Really need some good advice RE: BEC

I just got into BEC. Chapter 1 didn’t seem bad at all. I just got into Chapter 2 looked through the entire chapter and skimmed over Chapter 3. The amount of formulas and computations is overwhelming for me. Any advice on how to digest this? I’m using Becker. I’m not great with OM/Finance/Econ stuff so I’m gonna spend the extra hours but I’m trying to understand the stuff conceptually for the theoretical questions. I take the test on August 1st so I’m gonna be spending 8-12 hours a day on studying until then.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already seen the suggestion to watch the variance lectures on youtube for them to make sense.

I just took BEC last week so this is probably not what you want to hear but all it takes is practice. A lot of the formulas go hand in hand like breakeven point and profit target for example, so if you knock out tons of MCQ you will be fine

    FAR: 81
    REG: 85
    AUD: 73,71,83
    BEC: 82

    DONE!!!!!!

Practice makes the master. I'm completely dumb, but due to great effort and countless hours of study I have managed to pass three parts and will pass my last on 8/13/12……..PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CPATerminator lol. If someone “completely dumb” can do it so can you!

Yeah, Practice is all we can really say. B2 formulas all share the same conceptual basis. Many of them actually, algebraically equal eachother if you dig in a little deeper or pull out some. So try to understand the formulas – memorizing will not work. Pull out your old managerial accounting book if something really isn't clicking.

Variances are a pain (you may have to memorize some of those).

More than enough time. You'll do fine.

^^Sorry if there was any confusion, I was being sarcastic above. CPATerminator has passed 3 CPA sections – which makes him/her very smart, much further along in her/his journey to being a CPA than I am, and is obviously well qualified to be giving advice and I couldn't agree more – you gotta practice!

@CPATerminator – AHHH…. I spent 3-4 days maybe 5-6 hours on the MCQ's for B1-B2 (Cost).. The variances arent TOO bad, but they def. take a lot of my time. Im moving to Ch3 tomorrow, and Ill come back to 1&2 again before the exam a few times. But b1-b2 def. took up a good 3-4 days. I hated cost, got an A in it, but worked so hard for it. I dedicated all my time to learning it since my teacher was horrible.

I was hoping to get a couple B1-b2 questions, but after you said 8-12 variance problems, I am def. going to study it harder.

REG: PASS || BEC: PASS || AUD: PASS || F: SCORE PENDING..
