Its really hard to say, my friend took it and had lots of calculations, when I took it I felt there werent as many as I was expecting. So who knows? They can do anything!

I have heard it is more conceptual information from the people that I know who have taken the exam. However, I would suggest preparing for both equally. If you take that approach then you really can't go wrong.

I would say 70:30; conceptual questions to calculations

    REG - 81 (2/2)
    BEC - 87 (2/28)
    FAR - 76 (4/18)
    AUD - 75 (5/20)

IMO, this is not a particularly useful distinction to make in deciding on a study plan. Some conceptual questions can be tough to answer without knowing the underlying formulas; some calculation-based questions will require you to make distinctions based on other knowledge.

Far better to study until you're comfortable with a topic than to gamble on question types.

The first time I took BEC, I'd say it was 75:25, conceptual to calculations. The next time it was more like 60:40.

60:40 or 70:30 sounds good to me.@clubcard I wouldnt use the response here to change my study technique, which is to study everything and knowing it inside out. I just wanted to have an idea. I do know that some calculations will be straight fwd, while others will take time to answer. Same for theory questions.

    thanks for the response everyone

While calculations generally take more time than conceptual questions, I'm with Club Card as to planning your studies around that. Plus, what other people experience isn't necessarily applicable to you. I had at least as many calculations as theory questions if not more. Your best bet is to set a goal as how much time to allow for the writing, work backwards from there to set a time limit for each MCQ testlet, and stick to that schedule.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

I havent taken the exam since 2010, but I usually found the test to contain at least 5 questions. Probably no more than 10. This time around I am going to focus my studying on them. I don't think you can blow them off and still pass, so make sure you have a good grasp of the problems. If anything, it will help you with the theory questions.
