Hi everyone! My BEC exam is Monday and I am struggling! I can’t seem to MEMORIZE information. Does anyone else have this problem? How did you prep and what are some useful tips? Thank you in advance!

Do you re-write notes? I find going through MCQ like crazy, and then writing down the answers to the ones I got wrong very helpful. When reviewing the answers, I also look at why the other answers are wrong and if any are interesting or confusing I write those down too. I did MCQ's this way and repeated it over and over until exam day. These concepts you learn also help get your through the SIMS, so its a two for one really. BEC posts a lot of the formulas for you now, so you really need to just understand the concepts and you will be good.

HDCPA is spot on. Do MCQ and take notes on the ones you miss. Try to understand the underlying concepts even if you don't have every formula memorized. I was told if I do those two things I should be fine.

Thank you everybody! I use Becker but not sure if I should just drill the MCQ or continue going though the book. Sounds like drilling MCQ is the way to go! Good luck

I am taking it this Saturday. I feel ok on the MCQs but remembering all the formulas and solving these problems is a whole different story. I don't feel I have a good enough understanding of how to use the available data to solve for what they are asking for. I have been looking at problems all week and its almost like the next day all the data is erased from my brain.

@KLB I totally feel the same way.. I feel like you have to know more than just the formulas because they don't always give you the info you need to plug in. I'm praying that I pass on Monday because studying for this is a nightmare and seems like no matter what I do the information is not sticking to my brain.

@Bre good luck today. Let me know your thoughts after you take it. Unfortunately, I think it was a fail for me. I had to guess on quiet a few of them and I found both MCQ testlets hard but I don't think its because I did good on the first one so the second one was hard as well. I did realize that I don't have a good enough understanding of some of the content. Memorizing certain things doesn't mean understanding it and being able to apply it. I also found some of the questions extremely wordy and I spend quiet a bit of time going through the MCQ testlets.

@KLB Thank you. To be honest, the MCQs for me wasn't so bad.. it was the TBSs… I was so lost and pressured for time.. the formulas that I felt confident with seem to not work that way on the exam .. I felt like I should have practiced more calculation questions. Hopefully the WCs will help me. I know this one will be a retake for me 🙁 … but I am praying for a miracle because this material is torture.

@Bre good luck to the both of us. I think if you did good on the MCQ's you should be fine since thats the largest % of the grade. I am definitely not looking forward to going over the material again but at least if i have to retake i will have a better idea of what it might look like.
