Thank god…I got my first passing score today. What a relief. 85 on BEC! I didn’t want to study that garbage over again. I really needed a shot in the arm for FAR in 4 weeks and this should suffice. I’m still waiting on AUD, though I feel I did relatively well!!!

I just about crapped my pants when I saw the score. My heart hasn’t beat that hard in a while!! Thank you Becker 🙂

Thank you so much CPABear and congratulations on 2 awesome scores!

Gleim doesn't have lectures and I guess the book alone didn't help me fully understand the COSO concepts.

If Becker isn't much better than Wiley or Gleim, then I may just need a good lecture DVD (like Roger maybe?) that can help me better grasp the concepts.

If I don't get more reponses here, I think I'll start a new thread soliciting help with COSO stuff.

Thank you again and good luck with your remaining sections. 🙂

    CPABear,

I agree with you. I am still waiting for my BEC score which I took on 8/30, but many of the non-calc. questions were tricky in the way that, you needed to use judgement as to what could be the right answer. So, it's hard to find the right material to study the stuff. If I don't pass, I might study Wiley and supplement it with Roger's maybe? Any feedback on Roger's CPA review is much appreciated.

    CPABear,

I'm also a CA candidate. When did you get your score on BEC?

    cpa4now,

I got it the morning after the day everyone said it came out on these forums. I think California posts pretty early in the morning like 5:30 – 6:30 am.

    my recommendations for passing BEC

make sure you improve the areas you are weak in and really nail the areas you are strong in. I studied my ass off on COSO and IT but still finished weaker in those areas. I got stronger for the strategic planning and variance analysis stuff. I got a strong for the MCQ overall.

The IT and COSO questions are really hard. There is really no point in killing yourself on COSO either because im sure most of those questions will be pretest. I highly recommend you learn the concepts and can do calculation problems without really thinking about it.

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

Is anyone “practicing” the writing portion? Just wondering if I should even bother since I keep hearing that the content is not nearly as important as the structure, format, grammar, punctuation, etc. I think fairly highly of my writing skills, so do you suggest I spend time practicing somehow or just wing it?

    @Minimorty

I actually asked that question (pretty much) to Jeff, and he put it in the latest Podcast. I thought his answer was insightful and helpful.

I decided to pretty much only spend like 5 hours max looking at questions, reading the provided answers, and maybe try writing a couple and comparing answers with those provided by the review course.

But other than that, I'm just going to hit MCQs and let the writing take care of itself.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100
