Anyone have advice on what the most important topic to know (study) for the BEC section. I’m studying with the Wiley text, and have studied corporate governance and IT so far. IT has been extremely tedious and probably will be a topic I need to really nail down because practice questions have been difficult because the material is so boring and hard for me to remember. Also any advice on length of time for BEC? I’ve finished 2 out of 8 modules in 5-6 hours which seems really quick. I’ve seen many places that 80-100 hours isn’t needed. I’ve seen people get by the exams with 30-60 hrs. Is this that difficult or is 30-60 hours of efficient studying good enough? thanks for any advice.

It is difficult to answer that question without violating exam disclosure rules. Just know if a topic is on the AICPA's Content Specific Outline, it is fair game on the exam.

I studied just over 100 hours for BEC and passed. The number of hours you need to study is based on so many factors. Everyone's experience is different.

As for the most important topics to study – well those would be the ones that end up on your exam! Sarcasm aside, it really is just random. Someone who studied half the topics in 50 hours may just get LUCKY on exam day with an exam that is heavy in those topics while someone else may have the opposite experience.
