I have to take BEC on August 12th, just over 2 months away, and I work so don’t have a lot of time to study. I’m using Gleim. I have Roger too but not using the book or vids for this section. I’m about 20% of the way thru the Gleim book. Here are the topics…if anyone could tell me which of these is the most heavily tested nowadays so I know what to focus on? I’m doing like 2 chapters (study units) a week. Thanks.

    1. Corporate Governance
    2. Microeconomics
    3. Macroeconomics
    4. Globalization (foreign currency issues mostly)
    5. Financial Risk Management
    6. Forecasting analysis
    7. Corporate Capital Structure
    8. Working Capital
    9. Short-term financing and capital budgeting
    10. Capital budgeting (concluded) and Corporate performance
    11. IT Systems and processing
    12. IT Software, Data, and contingency planning
    13. IT Networks and e commerce
    14. IT Security and controls
    15. Strategic planning/budgeting
    16. Budget components
    17. Performance measurement and process management
    18. Costing Fundamentals
    19. Costing Techniques
    20. Costing systems/variance analysis

i agree with some of the other posts…there really arent any areas I'd suggest you skip or not give proper attention to. Best advice I have is to study and tax practice quizzes on all chapters, then have some analytic that tells you which you are trending the worst on and circle back and his those areas. Roger has a good tool for this in his IPQs, with the statistics he tracks on the chapter by chapter questions. For me personally it was IT and cost accounting, but again each test is different and each tester is different.

Also I definitely got econ questions on my test, don't know who said that's not important, cuz it is. It's what like 16 – 20% of the test?

    Good luck to you.

@Tommy – OMG, love your user name, I have a friend named Tommy (not Tom/Thomas!) and he's a total cat person!! Loves his cats! Myself…no. Viciously attacked by one at age 3 or 4 and traumatized ever since LMAO! I am a connoisseur of small dogs. Anyway.

Thanks for your insightful comments and yes, it seems there's no one area of the BEC exam that gets heavily tested whereas for FAR they seem to test on the same stuff every time…under the old version at least, not sure about the new one. I'm using Roger…but not for BEC. I used him for FAR and AUD but probably won't for BEC and REG. I did not notice the tool you mentioned about the IPQ's. I didn't think he offered that! But, the ones I got incorrect, I went back and did again before moving on, so I always had score of 100 before progressing on to next topic.

What I do wonder about is if the AICPA tests people who re-take the exams on certain topics that their previous exams didnt' cover? Perhaps they keep a record of the kinds of questions everyone gets each time they take it? We'll never know the answer to that though. Onward and upward! Dialin' and smilin!!
