Mainly Wiley?

I’m just starting the exam process and slated to kick off with BEC on May 21. I’ve been studying around 16-20 hours a week since the end of March using the Wiley book and test bank.

I’m to the point where I’m getting 75-85 doing a full test. (I’m not too worried about the written as I was a writer in a former life)

I have the Bisk book on the way because I’m getting to feel like I’m not answering some questions because I know the content, but because I know the question.

Has anyone taken the BEC using primarily Wiley, and if so, how do they feel their score on the exam compared to scores on practice test? Reading here it looks like some people are using Yeager, which the test bank is the Wiley, so I guess it would be the same.

I’m glad I found this site. Just reading it has pointed me in study directions I wouldn’t have known about.

I see many people using Becker, but I’m not willing to shell out the money unless I fail miserably.

    BEC 5/12/11 - 80
    FAR 7/9/11 - 79
    AUD 8/20/11 - 77

I took BEC last window using only Wiley book and Gleim test bank. I was scoring in the 70's on the Gleim and Wiley questions when I took the exam, and I passed with a 76 on the first try. I actually felt really confident going into the exam, and I thought I had done really well on the multiple choice questions. Turns out when I got my scorecard that I still scored weaker on some of the mcq's, but luckily I scored stronger on the writing portion, so thats probably how I sqeezed out a 76.

Personally, I think Wiley is enough to pass BEC. You might want to supplement the corporate governance chapter with COSO summary and implementation guidance published on the COSO website. If you can find an audit book, studying up on internal controls and risk assessment might be another good supplement too.

I'm using Wiley and Gleim for FAR…anyone else had success with this approach? It worked for me for BEC, but I dont know if it'll be enough for FAR.

When I took FAR in 2010, I used the Wiley books & the Wiley Online test bank and I was able to get an 81. I believe Wiley has all the material & information that you need to know in order to pass… it's just the matter of being able to read through something that reads like a dictionary.

Well, I got the Gleim and I'm glad as I got a 61 taking a 72 question test. Shows that I've got more work to do instead of relying just on my Wiley scores.

    22 study days left……

I don't know my score yet, but I felt good after the exam. I ended up using Wiley and the Becker text. I started w/ Wiley and then got a copy of the Becker text from a friend. I felt it was a good combination. Overall, Wiley covered all the material I needed and had tougher questions for preparation, but I found Becker clearer at times because it went into more detail. The biggest area of complaint I had about Wiley was the governmental section. I didn't like the way it was organized and I didn't have the actual standards to reference like I did for the public accounting. Becker was much better in this area if you can find a copy.

Thanks CalCPASoon – with the Wiley & Gleim I got an 80. When I took the Gleim full test online I had an 81 – so I think they're a pretty good indicator of the real test.

Now a couple of weeks more 'til FAR and hoping the same approach works.
