That exam is like the twilight zone. Don't let questions from another world send you into panic mode. Just answer them as best you can using common sense.

Absolutely time management and paying attention to what the question is asking. It often helps to read the question first. It can save you time and you know what you're looking for in the preceding info when you look through it.

    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker

2 words for all exams: TIME MANAGEMENT!

I honestly think poor time management can cause someone who prepared well to fail. Beware that there WILL be questions from outer space on your exam…it happens to all of us and don't let those few questions throw you off…make an educated guess and move on.

Make sure you have plenty of time for the last testlet. For BEC, Becker suggests 15 minutes per memo. I found this to work well for me, so I made sure I had enough time left for them (about an hour actually). I was able to put together 3 decent memos without being super rushed.

    Good luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

My advice is to not do anything drastically different on test day from your regular studies. For example, if you didn't drink coffee while you were studying, don't suddenly start drinking it on test day. If you slept at 1am every night, don't suddenly sleep at 9pm right before test day. I learned this while studying for the GMAT, and decided that coffee might be a good idea on test day when I never took a sip while studying, it really messed me up and I scored in the 39th percentile. In my retake a few weeks later, I scored in the 90th percentile, on par with my practice tests. Since then I've applied to to the cpa exam and I'm 3 for 3, with actual test scores much higher than my becker final exams.

Lastly, I suggest before starting the test and between each testlet, just take a few seconds to take about 4 deep breaths and exhale slowly. It helps relieve some tension and clears your mind caused from test anxiety which many people face. Might sound dumb to some people, but whatever works right? 🙂
