The whole thing about feeling like you did well and failing and feeling like complete garbage and passing, is totally true.

I thought I aced AUD, of course I failed. I thought I bombed BEC, just found out I passed.

Now, I’d like to say, usually Im a skeptic. When someone says “UGGGH i definitely bombed and failed this test” I dont believe them, because in my experience people like that usually would say that and get 90s on exams. Im not one of those people. When I think I bomb, its because I really am expecting a 40, not just saying it for the sake of saying it. So what I’m trying to say is, if you come out of the exam and feel horrible, like I did after BEC (I basically told my family I failed and felt sorry for myself all night) dont assume anything and just wait for your score to come out.

I honestly didnt know what I was doing on my exam and felt like I was guessing on every question. It turned out great for me and everyone should stay positive!

I second this. I felt the same way about REG and AUD. I thought I bombed REG and I left AUD 2 hours early expecting >90 and I just barely passed.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

I agree with you David…. I left every exam thinking I failed or was borderline. And I honestly thought I did to the point where I felt like shit for a couple days after. Turns out I did great on all my exams!

    FAR - 7/19/2012 - 95
    REG - 8/2/2012 - 91
    AUD - 8/15/2012 - 97
    BEC - 8/31/2012 - 90

I've learned that you can't believe any type of feeling coming out of an exam.

You can feel like you did really awesome and end up with either an amazing score or a crappy score.

Same with feeling like you failed/bombed it. You may end up with an amazing score or a crappy score.

For me personally, when I tell my friends I feel like I bombed an exam, it's the honest truth. And they always reply with “I bet you did awesome” or something similar. And I get my score back and it is pretty good. This was especially true for FAR. I just don't want to be labeled one of those ppl who always say they bombed/failed things just for the attention or anything like that. Like the OP, I truly mean I failed when I say I felt like I bombed it.

I just took REG and it was horrible. Testlet 3 was easy 1 sentence/1 word answers so that told me I did shitty on the MCQs. It's the honest truth when i say I feel like I totally failed with a 40 on REG. I'm still waiting on that score so it's very possible I did get a 40 haha.

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86
    BEC: 86
    REG: 84! Officially Done!

@Nam, THANKS! I used Becker 2012 self study and thats about it. I quickly browsed NINJA notes.

@shiggity, I believe you man. There are people who say it just for attention, but I dont think youre one of them. I know alot of those people because I went to high school with them. BTW, GL! I hope you pass!!!!

I remember this one kid who is basically one of the smartest kids in our grade and he would always complain about “failing exams” and ended up with the highest scores out of anyone. Needless to say people didnt really buy his act and didnt like him all too much either for that reason. (He is apparently also in the process of getting his CPA lol)

    Hey David,

I might need your help, I have 2011 Becker material. If possible or whenever you get a chance, could you please outline subchapters headings (only) for chapter 6 (B6) :

B6:Process and Project Management, Globalization, Financial Risk Management, Decisions, and Valuation

I would really really appreciate it. As I have lots of ancillary material in 2011 book, I am not sure what to read and what to ignore.

    Thanks so much in advance.

    Regards,

    Nam

I think when people say they feel they bombed an exam and end up passing, one of two things is going on: 1) They are people who have extremely high expectations for their performance on the exams and gauge it by how many questions they get wrong based on a percentage of questions answered. When they feel like they didn't nail 75% of the questions they think they bombed even though they knew most of the answers or took an educated guess. 2)They are pessimistic people who like to prepare for the worst. By saying they think they bombed out loud they are setting expectations very low so if they fail they won't be crushed, and if they pass they will be “unexpectedly” surprised. I know someone who is like this and always complains….every job interview they bombed….every test they take they bombed….every application to school will get denied…even though they are in reality an exceptional achiever in everything and always do well. I don't think they necessarily want attention I just think it's a personality trait that is very common with accountants.
