I'm horrible with this stuff :(

I literally am reading and doing the MCQ homework for chapter 1 and am not just bad but HORRIBLE with these computational questions. Even as I read these long passages with all these different numbers I begin to give up. I hated cost and managerial accounting in college and am scared this will be my achilles heel. AUD was so straight forward.

Am I doomed? I dont know what else to do, it’s taking me 20 minutes to do 10 questions of which 5 were wrong.

    So scared right now….

    Repetition……..

You might helpful writing the facts of the MCQ's in a piece of paper as you are reading. Remember to read the question first and then the facts.

David – I know how your feeling. This is my third attempt at studying for BEC. However, its my last test to pass and I'm done with this crap for the rest of my life so I have a little motivation driving me.

I've felt this way about every section of the exam so far though because all aspects of accounting literally bore me to death! I would rather be doing anything then studying, expecially studying such a very useless and boring topic (IMO).

Some nights I sit down after work in my office and study for 3 hours and I feel like I retain nothing. Just keep at… repetition is key! Make sure when your reviewing your notes you actually know the formulas cold. You need to be able to write out the formulas by memory. Just take scrap paper and write them down over and over. You will get it eventually, hopefully I will too.

sometimes I just feel like a zombie reading the material, but it gets better after the 4th or 5th time…

Thank you for the suggestions and help and kind words.

@Determined: I feel for you, and I hope you pass soon. This stuff is disgusting garbage and I hate it as well with all of my being. I start work in October and was hoping to get this yucky section out of the way.

As for me, I'm highly considering taking an extra month for BEC (2 months instead of 1)

I currently have it scheduled for Aug 31, but am thinking of switching it to October 1.

Does that sound like a better idea instead of cramming my studying for BEC into just one month?

BEC is totally doable…I'm not smart by nature and work 40 hrs/wk, 1-hr commute. Just practice, practice. Imagine you'll be rewarded with the hottest chick in the neighborhood. That's the mentality bro..

David – if it were me I would go a head and take it on the AUG31. 30 days is enough for BEC if you make everyday count including weekends. If you did fail it you could take it again on Oct 1st because its a new window.

    @Marivy22 <– Right on!

David B — You have to grind through them…and not just on “autopilot” but really walk through the problem like there's an accounting professor in the room asking, “Okay, where did this ratio/input/denominator/etc. come from” and understand how they flow…and after a few times you'll be in the groove and it will “flow.”

    Just keep moving!

Chapter 1 was bad, Chapter 2 was worse. I am now finally in Chapter 3 and it is better. You have to fight through 1 and 2 and try to stay motivated until you get past them. It is just so time consuming!

I made flashcards for formulas and processes and can honestly say that I wouldn't be able to do most of this stuff if my life depended on it at the moment, but I have to keep moving ahead and plan to review as much as I can as I go along using my flashcards and progress tests. Hopefully that will work. If I would have stayed on Chapter 1-2 until I had everything down pat, I'd never make it to chapter 5-6 before the exam! Good luck and keep on truckin'!

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)
