I practiced some of the written communications from Becker, and i have realized I can’t write at all. I know the answers, and i got them right. I just can’t put them into words…..and i know my grammar is terrible because English is my second language.

What should i do! Test is in 7 days!

The only grammatical errors I see in your post above is not capitalizing your “i's.” I've seen much shorter posts with more errors! That said, I would practice writing in Word and use the spelling and grammar check engines. They are not perfect by any stretch but they will catch glaring errors. Also if you have any friends who are good writers or editors you could have them help you. With a week to go I'd be calling, texting, and emailing anyone I knew who would be willing to help.

I can feel your pain. I had the same problem and I still think I'm a terrible writer. What I did was read the written answers over and over again and rewrote then on Word. If you know the answers then just get used to the formats. Reading and rewriting the answers really helped me. good luck!

English is my second language too and I managed to pass. You can do it!!

As many others have said; stay on topic, check for grammatical or orthographical errors, make 3 paragraphs (intro, body and conclusion) and use accounting terminology in all paragraphs.

    Done 😉

I had the same problem with BEC. Just read bunch of memos/ business letters and focus on the format. Its almost impossible to pass BEC w/o the essay section. Even though its weighted 15%, it determines either you pass or fail.

A little tip on practicing the written communications. If you are using Word then you definitely need to have the spell check and grammar check turned on but there is one other tool that may help. If you go to Options in Word and then go to Proofing you will see with the spell check and grammar check a box that says “Turn On Readability Statistics”. That will tell you what grade level you are writing at. You will also want to adjust your writing depending upon who you are writing to. For example, if you are writing a memo to a clerk about why he/she should be doing something, then you want those stats to be at 12th grade level or a little above. If you are writing to the CEO of a major corporation about a complex topic then you want them to be much higher. I think 15 or 16 is as high as it goes. This helped me tremendously!

@Shellgirl – No need to worry about the writing part. English is my second language, but I NEVER praticed any BEC writing questions before the test. Remember, the test is graded by computer unless your score is borderline for second review. It looked for key words, the more key words you write down on your essay, the more chance you will collect points. Say, the question asked about New York City, so the computer possibly looks for words like “statue of liberty, subway, stock exchange, Sak fitth ave, etc…” You do NOT need fancy words or polished grammers. Just used simple three words sentences…like, Statue of Liberty is a popular turists' spot, but hit as many as related key words possible…it works for me…

thank you so much for all the help guys! @ CPA-Convertible, I thought keywords has to be accounting related or keywords simply mean anything relates to the questions?

@shellgirl…keywords related to the questions. I was just using the example un-related to accounting since we can't discuss actual tested topics here. On your actual test, you might be asked, lets take a guess, on relationship between the demand and supply of ipad 3. I would say the computer is looking for keywords such as elasticity, increase/decrease, price up/down, substitutions, ect. once you have these keywords down, you make sentences out of them. no need to be cohensive or good style…my opnion.
