How is it possible to pass BEC? The Cost Accounting seems so impossible..

I am trying to get through all of the Cost Accounting questions for BEC, and wow, I am failing miserably.

Some of the calculations in the Wiley Book are just so detailed.

Are we really expected to know Cost Accounting in this much depth for BEC?

I thought BEC was supposed to be on several topics, without going into extreme depth on any of them, but I’m thinking I am wrong.

For those who have taken it, do you have any advice? Is Wiley “over-preparing” me, or am I screwed?

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 93
    REG - 90
    BEC - 87

    Can't believe it's over!

What are you having issues with specifically? O/H. Product Costs. etc. Post of problem and we'll see if we can break it down for you!

Agreed. Try to figure out what specifically you're struggling with. Wiley does not have the best explanations in some of their materials. They do go into extreme detail that is not always easy to understand, and it's best to have someone break it down into a simpler explanation. That's not to say the information in Wiley is not relevant to passing the exam, but the explanation is just often too muddled. We're willing to help! Cost accounting is definitely a good chunk of BEC, but you can do it!

    BEC - 68, 76
    AUD - 90, 91
    FAR - 63, 83
    REG - 55, 79

    FINALLY DONE!

Well, there are a lot of misconceptions about BEC. It should be given a comparable amount in preparation time regardless of what the popular notion is (being easy)!

There are NO easy CPA exam sections. I've covered so far 2 out of 6 BEC chapters and agree with a few others that said of not to underestimate little beast BEC. Becker goes into a lot of details I've previously seen in both Cost and Advanced Cost accounting courses and while the textbook is relatively thin compared to other sections, it is still full of tons of stuff.

I went into BEC believing the hype about how it was such an easy exam to pass. By the time I got halfway through B2, it was far from what I was expecting.

BEC should definitely be given its fair amount of respect. I found it way more difficult than AUD.

I found myself studying heavily on the math aspects of the course and not as heavily on the conceptual stuff. At the end of the day I'm not sure that was the best move, but it seemed like that is where all of the homework questions were gearing me.

I would say what helped me was coming up with a huge list of equations, and rewriting them over and over again until they stuck.

BEC was overwhelming for awhile, until I had looked at each chapter enough times that it all came together.

You just need to stick with it, keep plugging away, and going over and over and over the questions.

without a shadow of doubt, volume wise initially any would think BEC has less no of pages to cover, unfortunately, when you start digging through the pages, you ll find out, almost every line is a potential MCQ. Its literally a tons of stuff and definitions to remember while you have to strong in calculations as well. guys watch out for BEC!
