I have an a mixed name and European last name. Hence I am afraid that if I sign sincerely, first name and last name that computer will read it as a misspell for both. Did you include your name? or did you end it at Should you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me?

I believe I saw valedictions in prep materials as “Regards, CPA Candidate.” I also recall reading somewhere, maybe on this forum, that the AICPA goes to some effort to protect the anonymity of the test takers and therefore it would not be recommended to include your name in your valediction.

All of the WC I had were in memo format and thus, there was no need to add a “Sincerely” closure. I have taken BEC twice. I failed the first time, but did receive “stronger” on the WC. I am waiting on my BEC retake score…so we shall see for the second time around.

I used the following outline for all my WC:

    1st paragraph (2-3 sentences):
Hi [Name], thank you for your question regarding [restate what they are asking in prompt]

    2nd paragraph (4-5 sentences):
    Supporting facts

    3rd paragraph (4-5 sentences):
    Supporting facts

    4th paragraph (3 sentences):
Restate what they are asking in the prompt again. If you need any additional information or have questions regarding this memorandum, please feel free to contact me at 123-456-7890.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

I hope you rot in hell for torturing candidates. This is the most degrading, depressing, and humiliating process I have ever been though. Have a nice weekend and contact me at your earliest convenience if you have any questions. I look forward to speaking with you.

Really sorry if the Above was innaproriate. It's a JOKE, but I do feel like that at times. I signed up for this exam and it has been a great learning experience, but very, very challenging.

Goodluck everyone. Hope someone else sees the humor bc Tim Gearty's jokes on Becker's new software are terrible! I give him credit for trying though!

I second Radez. Instead of actually writing my own name, I would sign as “CPA Candidate”. I scored “stronger” on the writing portion even though I honestly had no idea what two of the three questions were asking.

Honestly, it really is more about sentence structure than actual content. If you are even a decent writer, you should be able to nail the writing portion. I know the structure of BEC has changed a bit but I don't see the WC portion being much different.
