Scheduled my exam for next Friday and haven’t started studying yet. I have 8 solid days to study. Anyone think passing is possible and any suggestions for possible study techniques to give myself the best chance of passing?

    Possible? Sure

    Likely? Not really

I had a lot of snarky comments in my head but I figure it's best to just keep quiet.

    Good luck though.

Hit the test bank and flash cards, section by section, like your life depends on it. You'll have a shot at least. 🙂

If Krokofilen could pass with only 2 days of study, it's surely doable within a week. Most I say is to hit the MCQ like no tomorrow and know all the formulas. Good luck!

I know people who have passed BEC without studying for it at all…. So, the answer is: you can pass if you're capable of passing.

The rest of us don't know your study strategy or your background knowledge. You tell *US* if you can pass or not.

    BEC - PASS (79)
    AUD - PASS (63, 71, 74, 74, 83)
    REG - PASS (88)
    FAR - PASS (58, 89)

I believe that Krokofilen studied for BEC for a few weeks and then started studying for another section. He was an international guy and I think based on some of the posts that I read he studied for 2 parts simultaneously. He did take 2 days to just cram for BEC and then take it. Since he had to take 2 sections at a time.

I think if you are not working and all you can do is study it is possible.

I am always skeptical of people that claim they never studied. If you ask follow up questions sometimes you find out that they were a recent graduate who had just taken some BEC related class hence not having to study. And some people have you find out may have started studying for the section and stopped.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

All the more power to those who were able to use what they learned in school/work to pass the CPA.

    BEC - PASS (79)
    AUD - PASS (63, 71, 74, 74, 83)
    REG - PASS (88)
    FAR - PASS (58, 89)

I don't understand why people ask if things are possible. Anything is possible, I suppose. But why not just push the exam back a bit, even to the end of Feb if you HAVE to get it in this quarter. I think its better to take those 8 days and study in a more ‘normal' fashion rather than rushing just to get an exam in. If you fail, you will say, ‘I expected to fail, I only studied 8 days'. Why do that to yourself? Unless you're at risk of losing an exam?

I don't suggest it. Some people passed studying only 2 days, others failed studying for 2 months. You know what works for you.

People ask if it's possible because they consider the opinion of people who have taken the exam already to be important

Totally understand that – point I was trying to make was you shouldn't base your decision on other's experiences. I've read people passing in 2 weeks or less and know with certainty that wouldn't work for me. On the flip side, even if everyone said ‘no way, it's not possible', you could be the exception. I would focus on if you think you can do it, not on what others did.

Krokofilen had already read the entire BEC book prior to his 2 day cram so he had basis for all the material, just hadn't practiced it yet. That being said, some people could probably pass BEC without studying much and some have to study for months. I agree with Determined CPA that you can't base your ability to pass on what anyone else says because everyone's background and capabilities are different. Memorization of formulas and terms is going to go a long way for you. It's possible. Just depends on your background and how you approach your 8 day cram.

    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

My degree is in economics, and we do no audits at the CPA firm I work for. That being said, I felt like BEC was much harder than the AUD exam. There is so much random material in BEC. Anything is possible, let us know what happens!

I passed… barely… with 3 1/2 weeks of half-assed studying. But I was in the bubble for an uncomfortable amount of time come score release. Good luck.

There was a study done for a condoms manufacturer in which 100 Caucasian males were ask to measure the size of their penis when erect every day for one week. This was not a controlled test, so the company pretty much trusted each on the 100 participants. After they all turn in their measurement, the condom manufacturer concluded that the eaverage penis size was around 8 inches and not a single participant measured less than 7 inches. Part II of the test consisted of having all the participant come back for an office visit, for a second measurement but this time a nurse would conduct the measurements. The average penis after the controlled test was 5.50 inches.

Moral of the study, I don't believe anyone that says that they hardly study for an exam and pass with flying colors. We have defensive mechanisms in our brain and people tend to always exaggerate in their favor when it comes to accomplishments, looks, IQ, etc, etc.
