One thing that helped me was I made a list of all the names of the formulas on one sheet. I made several copies of this sheet and filled in the formula's. What this does is make all the formula problems gimme problems through repeating you know all of them and this gives you easy points. Don't give up I made two 74's on this before passing.

    BEC 78 11/13/10
    REG 68 in 2011, 79 Passed 10/1/11
    AUD 78 11/30/11
    FAR Take 2012
Wife is due with our first 5/31/11 will lose BEC credit on 5/31/11 TWO DUE DATES!!

In addition to writing out the formulas, I recommend using a test bank and the Ninja notes. I'm not familiar with Roger's review, but IMO the more MCQ you do the better. I found myself getting confused since the topics on BEC are so disparate. I found that using the Ninja notes during my review really helped me consolidate things in my mind. When you take the exam, I'd recommend leaving at least an hour for the writing SIMS. I've read that 15 minutes per question should be sufficient, but I knew it wouldn't be for me. I had 54 minutes and finished with 5 seconds to spare, but my last response wasn't nearly as good as I would have liked.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

thanks kb24. I used Roger and Gleim but it seems like Gleim's test bank doesnt test alot of the material found in Roger and vice versa. So i will just have to use a little combination of both i guess. Congrats on your BEC score!! must feel good for it to finally be over..take care!

I used Becker, studied for a month while working full time. It was the first cpa test I passed so maybe I am biased towards recommending Becker 🙂

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

ive taken it three times. all three tests were completely different. i would suggest however to know all the financial management formulas (ROI, inventory turnover, etc.) and read as much as possible on coso. i personally wouldnt dwell on economics. but thats just me. good luck!

    FAR - 88
    REG - 88
    AUD - 69, 79
    BEC - 71, 74, 82

where can you find more information on COSO? Is Becker enough?

Also – could you provide more advice on the written sentences. What is a good length for a response. and Do you add examples?

    @syyuchen

I think that the explanation of the writing requirements in the Becker intro is very good. However, IMO their “good” answers are wordier than is needed for the exam. As long as you give a reasonably complete and properly written answer that directly answers the question you should be fine.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

dreambigCPA, Thanks for the post. I plan to take the exam on Oct 7(my birthday! )I took Aud on the 26th Aug and planning to start studying from tomorrow. I plan to use Wiley. I used BISK for FAR (77) and Gleim for Audit. Gleim MCQ's were good but sims were totally useless. And Gleim books are the worst. They have no mnemonics, pictures, tables and it feels like a boring dictionary. So I plan to switch to Wiley for BEC. Keep in touch. We can probably help each other!

Carefully look at the weighting of each section of the test. Don't spend oodles of time perfecting your knowledge on topics that are more unfamiliar to you but less weight on the test.

@pnv5931 Im taking BEC oct10…and i just finished Audit a couple weeks ago. I really hope we can finish this lonely path to success as soon as possible!! I agree Gleim's book being read as a dictionary. LOL thats why i switched to Roger and only use gleim as a compliment. Roger is excellent however i know im getting burntout when Roger's enthusiasm starts to annoy me haha. Good luck to all of you guys!

I just took BEC in July and am waiting for my score. I used Becker and Gleim. I don't believe EITHER covered COSO enough. My advice is to please take the time to read about COSO. I already wrote Gleim a wonderful (not so happy) e-mail about how I felt about their coverage of the new topics.
