I just failed my first exam. 67 on BEC. Pretty frustrating when you feel like you studied your tail off. I am seeking advice from those that have had to retake BEC or those that passed the first time. I obviously don’t want to do exactly what I did before, but am not sure where to start. I am going to order Nina Notes and add those to my Becker self study. I am going to review everything and then focus on weak areas. I just don’t want to get to bogged down in stuff I already know or waste time. I just feel a little stuck and hope some of you could get me going in the right direction after my first test and first fail.

    Thanks so much!!

    BEC - 67 | 69 | 2014?
    AUD - 11/27/13 - FAIL
    REG - 2014
    FAR - 2014

@Lindsey I got the same detail on my score report. comparable on both corp gov and IT, stronger on written.

I plan to rewatch all the CPAExcel video's in 1 week and write extensive notes on them. Then do the MCQ's for the 3 weeks straight in Wiley's test bank. I think that a general overview of all the material and pounding MCQ's will get me over the hump.

I got a 71 on BEC … then re-took, getting a 73. Then retook and got a 79. I felt most confident walking out of the 71. Look at the results and the areas you were weakest in, and hit those hard. Don't ignore your strong parts, just don't kill yourself over them. For some reason, for me, SIMS are a cinch. I haven't studied for one, and always are strong with them, so I continue not to study for them. My thought process is if you know the material for the MCQ, then you know what you need for the SIMS. So just study the weaker areas hard. Don't just watch lectures … re-read (and I re-wrote) entire chapters, just to get a better understanding of the material.

    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77

    It's finally freaking over.

Thanks everyone!! I just bought Ninja Audio to listen to on the way to and from work. That's 2 hours a day that was wasted before. I'm hoping this extra time will help some of the info sink into my brain. 😉

Hoping to get a response this time!! I need help getting back on track after a BEC fail. I plan on taking it again October 1 or 2. My Becker will be expired 9/15 so I will be without M/C. Should I take a Roger's Cram course, Yeager Cram course, just buy the Wiley testbank and work a ton of M/C questions? I would like to make this decision tomorrow and make a purchase. I would really like insight from as many people as possible!!! I am determined to knock this out in October!

@shellylynn I am in the same exact boat as you are and asking the same exact questions! I would love to know what you end up doing. I used MDS, Wiley and Ninja notes and audio but I am really wondering….I do well with lecture with examples. I need examples and lots of doing to learn so I am not sure which way to go…study what I have or try to see if another viewpoint makes it sink in a bit better.

@smyoung0521. I think I am going to buy the Rogers Cram course, which comes with the Wiley test bank and supplement with Ninja. Yaeger Cram is expensive. I think I am going to start with the Cram Course lectures and take a ton of notes. Last time I didn't re-write the Ninja notes and I am going to do that this time. I'm going to listen to the Ninja audio and just pretty much buckle down hard from now until October 1. Let's keep in touch.

Feeling overwhelmed! It is hard to know how to study for a re-take. Do I do everything I did the first time over again with Becker? Should I watch all the videos again? 🙁 Sounds like torture right now.

Right now I am reading the Wiley book and Ninja Notes and listening to Ninja Audio daily to/from work

Next I'm going to take notes and write out Ninja notes

Then do MCQ from Wiley and Becker over and over

Then rewrite notes and review flashcards etc. Practice tests…..

I just hope I'm doing enough. I don't really have time to watch all the lectures again and honestly I get more out of reading and note taking and the audio on the way to work and back. Do I need the lectures again too? So much to do. 😉

    Thanks for any help!!

Nothing new to add except that with the Ninja notes and some more studying (Wiley), I went from a 62 to a 79 on BEC. Keep those notes handy – I think what you're doing with them and writing your own notes is a good idea!

I would agree with you, in that re-watching those lectures/videos may not be the best use of time. Focus on the nitty-gritty now: working problems, understanding areas that are confusing to you, etc.

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.
