    Just wanna share a moment of excitement

    This morning I turned on my iPhone to ck my score, the page was loaded and the screen showed a number of 70

    I previously scored 73,71,71 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see another 70, but as I zoomed in it was a 78! Holy I couldn’t believe it

    I have fair amount of weaker comparable and stronger areas but I m pretty sure the turning pt was the written communication part, I scored stronger on that and because I spent a high quality of time on them, I was only able to finish 2/3 of them, that signals they picked the best 2

    Some ppl were scared of the wc, but for me, it’s actually a golden opportunity because u get to bs something and earn pts from there. Whereas mc, wrong is wrong, no negotiation whatsoever.

    Feel free to ask if bec is a beast for some of u, I finally conquered this sob, despite I didn’t score high

    Good enough

    O, I used Becker and Wiley book for supplement

    Congrats!!! How did you prep for WC? I'm sitting for BEC this Friday and am accustomed to preparing for MCQs now, but am nervous about WC, even though others have said not to worry much about it. Thanks for sharing btw.

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84

    Good job, Kobe! Congrats!

    I agree that WC part can be a turning point, however I wanted to give some hope to those candidates that are not so confident about their writing skills. I performed weaker in WC (which I knew, since I had less that 30 min to complete all three of them), but I was stronger on MC part and passed.

    @pattibelle, I don't think you can really “prepare” for WC, I would just recommend to allocate your time properly and you should be fine. Good luck!

    BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
    AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
    FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
    REG - 08/31/2012

    Thanks iPass – I'll keep up with the MCQ's and hope to re-write NINJA notes this week to help reinforce the material. I was caught off guard with REG this summer and ran out of time, so I'm determined to make sure I don't repeat that mistake with BEC.

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84

    Congratulations Kobe and iPass!!

    @Kobe, did you do anything differently this time besides scoring better on WC?

    What helped you most in getting over the hump this time around in your opinion?

    How do you find the exam compared to the previous three you took — easier or harder, more theory or mcq?

    BEC is my nemesis. I failed twice by only 1 and 2 points and lost confidence/motivation in the subject.

    @happy75 and patti

    Obviously I had luck this time…and I think it has something to do with the early score release

    Considering the cpa exam is curved, i believe there's a huge advantage when they released about only 4000 BEC scores at early stage rather than the previous 20k scores at the end of each closed window. In other words, you have less competition…

    I didn't do anything different this time…In fact, I did much less this time, I only used 2 weeks to just skim through the material as I was really frustrated and planning to buy either Yaegar or Rogers in 2012. But I just give it a try anyway. I used Becker previously for three times, and this time it was no exception, but I actually add a supplement by reading the wiley book and took notes…the questions are tougher but it's better practice for me as I pretty much had memorized the Becker questions…

    BEC is not easy I admit…up until now I still couldn't believe I passed it…

    In summary, I agreed with most people that Becker didn't do a good job on BEC, but it did help to build up a foundation of what you need to know. If I don't understand a particular section of Becker, I referred to Wiley for reference and surprisingly, Wiley book actually explained better at certain point and that helped me kick in.

    Hope this helps…now I need some advice on REG and FAR lol

    I passed BEC as well this time with a 76 after getting a 69 on my previous attempt. I used Yaeger (with Wiley's book) Wiley test bank and Jeff's Ninja Notes. I also did additional MCQs from Becker (which I had used exclusively on my first attempt).

    I was one of those that were in the 1100 released on Friday and I believe it was because I was borderline. I agree with Kobe that the WC were a golden opportunity because I truly think this is what helped me get the 76. I read through every WC in wiley's book and some from Becker. I also skimmed over them just before going into my exam and had them somewhat fresh in my head so when it came time for the exam I was prepared for them. I actually had two that were very similar to ones I had just reviewed.

    BEC was a problem for me. My first exam I tried to study without a review course, just read the Wiley book. After receiving my score I decided to go with a review course (Yaeger). I believe the WCs were my problem each time I failed. I tried to focus too much on providing accurate information but heard from a few sources that the content wasn't as important as the organization and format. I put this to work on my last exam and I think it worked.

    congrats Kobe

    always great to hear someone get over an exam that seems to present hurdles. I am hoping that I can get over Audit. Seems to be a hurdle for me. My third swipe is coming up soon.

    Best of luck to you on your next exam, thanks for sharing your story!

    @ yankeeacctant, audit supposed to be the easiest one according to the poll that I participated in. What review course did u use? Becker is best for audit mc and Wiley test bank is good for supplement for the sims. I didn't score high but I admit it didn't take me long to pass it and the sims were crucial for me to pass

    @kobe

    I know!!! That is why Audit is such a pisser. It does have the overall highest passing rates, but it is tough for me. I have Becker, I listened to all the lectures, I read the whole Wiley book and took notes, even used the Wiley testbank, but I can't pass that exam to save my life. It sucks because I have gotten the lowest scores on Audit.

    I got Roger cram for this time and I really like it. He was an auditor in the work world, so to me, he is in his element. He explains all the details very clearly. I am hoping it will work. I wanted to buy the course, but my pockets are getting empty.. So, the cram will have to do.

    The sims were insanely hard–I agree. I am hoping I have a bit of luck this time.

    @yankee

    Don't worry about audit, as long as you are grabbing the concept, the sims should be fine

    did you pass FAR or REG already? they both look like beast to me…especially REG, it just looks crazy that I need to memorize so many stuff meanwhile only 72 MCQ

    I was scheduled to take REG on 11/29 but I guess I need to postpone as I m really not ready for it and I m only at chapter 2

    hey, good luck on REG. I just took it for the second time last week . I hope this time it sticks! I have BEC and FAR under my belt, so just halfway there.

    Thanks for the good vibes–I need it.
