Difficulty of BEC testlets?

Okay, I posted about my BEC experience today over on the Official BEC Thread. Overall, I feel like I did pretty well. I was doing so well with the Becker stuff, I felt very prepared. There were no real surprises on the test today, though there were a few questions I could not get the right answer to and just guessed. I think two in the second testlet and maybe one in the third. My question is about the testlets.

Everyone says they’re supposed to get harder, but I really didn’t notice much of a difference. More calculations on the second, but I can’t say they were necessarily hard or anything. I felt the testlets went medium/medium/medium. Has anyone ever had this experience, and if so, what was the outcome? I know I’m overanalyzing but I am starting to worry a little! I wasn’t exactly paying attention to the difficulty of the questions from one to the next testlet, but I never thought it got out of control hard or anything. It was maybe slightly harder from one to the next. But like I said, nothing that went easy-hard-easy as most people’s seem to do.

Also, one more question. I know this is silly, but how do you check your score when it’s released?!

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

Don't worry about it. I had the same experience with BEC and AUD. I felt the exam was fairly easy throughout and I was worried that I messed up royally because it didn't seem to get any harder at all. As you can see in the signature, the outcome proves that I shouldn't have worried. Just sit back and let the scores come. You're done with the exam and there's nothing more you can do now so don't fret.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go back to your study notes in an attempt to look up answers to questions you think you remember from the exam, you'll just drive yourself mad.

As for checking your scores, it depends on your state. If you're in a NASBA state, you'll need to check the NASBA site for scores. If you're not in a NASBA state, like Illinois (my state), then you'll have to log in to the respective Board of Accountancy site. But if you're unfortunate enough to be in a state that still mails scores, then just watch the mailbox.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

There's a good chance you just didn't notice a difference in difficulty because you were just well prepared. I was real worried with FAR when I took it because I felt the same way, but I more than passed.

I definitely felt like my BEC got harder, but mainly because I thought the first testlet was stupidly easy.

    FAR - Feb 2012 - 86
    BEC - Apr 2012 - 85
    AUD - Apr 2012 - 89
    REG - May 2012 - 78

Thanks, guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to. I was taken aback by how underwhelming the test was. I am not saying it was easy, it was just…weird. I have said that at least 10 times today!

Anyway, I think I'm in a NASBA state (VA) so that's good. I can't believe some people still have to get theirs in the mail! Thanks again for the help.

Keely, I completely understand what you are saying. I expected some difficult questions due to how much I studied, but it did not seem very difficult. I'm sure we both passed! Good luck!

    B - (4/2012)
    A - (5/2012)
    R - (1/2012) Done!
    F - (10/2011) Done!
