    Yes, I think it's odd…it might be a conspiracy…or a very good money-making scheme. The more we fail, the more we pay and the more money they make!!! Meanwhile, we sit around thinking we're idiots when the actual pass rate is 99%! Ya never know…

    I have complete faith in the system; it is just a hard test and the ways of calculating a passing score are beyond a mere mortals comprehension

    to that effect………….pass rate is dependant upon the standard that is set

    I think its several things. My list would be;

    1.) some people just don’t study enough (they don’t care, or don’t think it will be hard)

    2.) the test is multiple parts (meaning it is easy to get distracted with family, spouses, children, or significant others)

    3.) some people don’t have solid academic background (i.e. didn’t apply themselves in college or their accounting program was weak)

    4.) some people don’t have money for good test materials (by choice or due to their situation)

    5.) not everyone is supposed to pass….. (had to have a fifth reason and I’m guessing the college professors and professionals writing the questions would say this one)

    It would not be highly regarded designation if they passed everyone.

    AICPA and NASBA are reading this forum and it affects their mentality. Let's give them round of applause. They make every effort to give us passing scores. I am sure I will get my 75+75 (REG+AUD).

    I tend to agree that it's a money-making conspiracy! :-)… but, I guess until we pass we can't make any “waves” about how the system works.

    The truth is that when we pass we do not say anything bad about the system. But when we fail (God forbid!) we go crazy. That is the human nature.! It is normal. It is natural. It is God given.!

    mkwiswes – I agree with your #1 the most. I think a lot of it depends on how much you study and how you study. I took my first two parts right after I graduated college before I started working. All I did was study study study. Then I started full time work and couldn't study as much and saw an 8 point drop in my next exam. I had multiple choice questions from Becker review show up on my exam and it made me wish I had done more of the practice questions because I might have seen more duplicates. Good luck to everyone! and I hope it comes soon to make my 70 hour work week a little better.

    FAR-87, REG-88, AUD-80, BEC-86 DONE!!!!

    The exams are difficult for sure, but mostly because of the sheer volume of material. If you use Becker or likewise, put in the time and prepare yourself – you shouldn't have any problem passing. Test scores, for the most part, are a function of work ethic.

    “Test scores, for the most part, are a function of work ethic. “

    Circumstances play a key role too. A recent grad who is single and waiting to begin work in the fall for a firm has a much different exam experience than a person who is married with kids and working full time.

    I know plenty of people working their tails off and sacrificing to pass to this exam with little more than frustration to show for it.

    It has nothing to do with their work ethic.
