I imagine this is an ongoing problem, and they probably don't care since they are the monopoly for the CPA exam. So frustrating, my friend just took her nursing boards a couple weeks back, and found out her results the next day!!! Why can't this test model that system?

They definetely have to change the whole system and disclosure the info for the exam takers

I think the nursing exam is more of a "right and wrong" type test, they don't really take into account all of the other information, how others did, all of the stuff that goes into the cpa exam. Don't forget, this is one of the hardest exam's to take and I'm sure it has a lower pass rate than the nursing boards. I'm guessing some of our scores would be lower if they graded it just based on right vs wrong answers.

The CPA Exam also does test each question individually, such that if there is a question the examiners felt was great that comes back with a 7% "correct" rate…okay, that really wasn't a good question.

The nursing exams generally won't do that.

Also it is same like CMA You get your result just after you hv finished your exam

My point is, BEC is all MC…my comment was directed more at BEC, and not the other three. They know in advance what questions are the pre-test questions. The process could take a few days to a week, but this long of a wait is ridiculous.

Yes, they do know – but the actual results (especially with new questions) on the exam can change the game.

It seems to me, as computerized as MCQ's are, that they could have initial parameters (pre-test ?'s, etc), and run some statistical analysis via computer for BEC after results come in on a rolling basis. I know the way they grade it is based on the difficulty of the question and what not, it still seems to me that the sheer number of people who take this in any given window would yield a large enough sample size to come up with solid conclusions.

And I agree, thank the lord it isn't straight up right vs. wrong, or a lot of people would be in trouble on this exam!

Update on BEC: They are still having IT issues and they said "it may be a long night" for them.

    Jeff,

I just registered with your site and wanted to say how amazing it is to have somewhere to go for answers about the CPA exam. I am waiting on BEC in Missouri and would be freaking out right now if it weren't for another71.

    Thank you,

    Erin
