Cpa exam schedule? Should I take BEC at the end of this month?

Hey guys, I’ve started studying for my CPA exam and already took 1 section (Auditing) I’m not sure how it went, I’ll find out about that in about 10 days or so. My question is.. do I wait to get my score, or should I just jump to whatever my next section is. I honestly have no clue how it went… there was 1 Sim I totally wasn’t prepared for and had to absolutely guess on everything (hopefully it was pre-test)

As far as BEC (I’ve heard from many that this is the “easiest” section), any tips if I should just take that at the end of this month? I’d have ~16 days of studying or so and I don’t work right now. Is this doable? I know everyone is different, but I really want to try to get these sections done before recruiting season rolls around. Or should I just go for FAR at the beginning of July and worry about BEC later on? Thanks for any suggestions!

Do it. I started a week ago. I am not working and I feel like the information is easy to grasp. Its straightforward and not too much heavy lifting. If you put the time in you should be alright.

I would say go for it! If you are not working and can dedicate some serious study time do it! BEC was one of my easiest…studied the least amount of time for it too!

    Good Luck!

Spend the next 18 days taking notes, doing MCQS, reading, and repeat until your eyes bleed for the next 18 days and give it a shot!!!! The worst thing that happens is that on June 7th or 10th you see a number less than 75 and you try again ASAP in July. I've been busting my a$$ on BEC since I found out my audit score on 5/3…so I have given myself about 3.5 weeks to get it done. And I'm working full time. I'm not afraid to spend $300 to step up to the plate and swing at BEC and I am willing to step up again on 7/1 if it doesn't happen on the first try! Besides, it can't be worse than auditing, right??? πŸ˜‰

I think that BEC is the only section you can get away with passing on this much of a time crunch, so give it your best effort! The BEC study group rocks this quarter and there are some heavy hitters like @bcjasper09, @Casey, @Theo to bounce ideas and questions off if you get stuck!

    Good luck!!!!! πŸ™‚

Okay, thanks for the encouragement. Looks like starting tomorrow I will give it a go and study full time for BEC and hopefully get it done the end of this month. The formulas are sort of scaring me at the moment, but i'm sure I'll find a great way to memorize them lol.

@bcjasper can I ask what your study schedule is like? You mentioned in another thread that you're already on you're second run through and you only started a week ago so I'm curious.

I don't do the Ninja approach, not that I am against it, more or less because I'm not really sure what ELL means? But at any rate I think I have approached every test a bit differently and this section has probably worked the best. I finished my internship in April so I don't work right now, just a FT student. I did all the lectures and homework last week (homework after the lectures which is unninja like). I finished my lectures on Friday and started rereading the chapters and doing the MCQ's after (this is the first time I've done this) and it works phenomenally for me. I was able to to pinpoint the parts that I missed the first time around and let it really sink in. Now I am going through the MCQ's again and plan on looking a little bit at the Sims after I finish round 2. After that, I'm not really sure what my plan of attack is?

I passed BEC with only 11 days of studying, so it is definitely doable. I had just taken AUD, like you. Bear in mind I logged ~60 hours in the 11 days, did not skip any topics in my review books (Bisk and Gleim) but did rush at the end, did ~700 MCQs, had no life, and practically cracked my skull open. :p

Seriously, though, it will not be pretty. Keep pushing yourself and don't procrastinate. Start now! You'll be thankful later if you do even 30 minutes of studying now. At least get yourself organized and set up an attack plan.

Do give yourself some slow days on the weekends or something.

Afterwards, you will feel horrible about having FAR and REG left. :p But you will be half done!

    CPA exam: Done!

    Thank You, Lord.

Wow I am inspired especially since I have been thinking. Its not enough time to study, but someone did say never waste a test seesion. Because I know myself I will spend the next couple of weeks before July moping around house, watching programs I don't like to watch if I wasn't studying. So I think I am gonna go for it. I am at the tip of the cliff and I am gonna jump for BEC.

Yippeeey here comes the crazy. I will have you guys to pick me up if I get anything less than 75!!! I wrote the other figure (then I thought don't jinx yourself).

16 days does not seem like enough time unless you're able to study just about full-time and/or you already know the topics fairly well. On the other hand, there is nothing to lose except the testing fees. Best of luck!

    BEC – 75

    AUD – 77

    REG – 80

    FAR – 81, a miracle and done!
