(Yaeger CPA Review – BEC)

Holy shiaat….. I can’t stand watching these videos. This lady talks faster than anybody ever. An hour long video usually takes a minimum 2 hours to get through (start and stop and takes notes and start and stop and take notes and start and stop and take notes {perpetual loop}).

I’m through 9/24 hour long segments and she just reads basically every word of the Wiley book (which doesn’t bother me), but I wish she would slow down – maybe expand more on some of the topics. Her quirks and retarded jokes are the only thing that keeps me sane (mainly because she slows down for a brief instance).

I really hope she takes some Xanax or morphine or something to slow her down. Fingers crossed for video 10.

Cindy, if you do read this – I mean no offense. You seem like a really smart, sweet, lady. Just remember, not all of us have 80 professional designations behind our name and the ability to instantly comprehend and retain all business and accounting related information (at least, not yet).

This thread cracks me up because I feel the same way too!! I have watched her for BEC and will not watch the lectures again when I retake this summer. I am watching her for FAR now and after the third hour her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. She is very knowledgable though and her methods are outstanding. I just have to power through this.

I think of Cindy & Phil Yeager as the BEST instructors for CPA exam! period. BTW you can play videos slow or fast with the right tech.

People do need the opportunity to vent, I don't think we are asking for something different or saying she is terrible. Just stating that she talks really fast and it's hard to watch the lectures. And with how stressful the exam is, I just needed to vent for a second. 🙂 There are different instructors for each section. For Audit, it is all Gary. And by the 20th hour of his monotone voice, yes I needed to complain for a second. For REG, it was all Phil and after the 100th time of watching him pull up his pants or clear his throat, guess what, I complained. FAR is mostly Cindy with one section Gary, a few sections Phil. I think BEC is all Cindy.

To watch in faster mode, like the 1.3 mode which is awesome to use on Phil to speed him up, I use the VLC player. Google it and you can download it.

And one other thing, I think they are the best too. I failed miserably with Becker. It just didn't work for me. But once I found this site and used Jeff's study plan, switched to Yaeger, plus NINJA notes I was able to pass Audit and Regulation. I think Cindy is fantastic for FAR also. She is just hard for me to watch because she is so fast, I am constantly rewinding and pausing. And like I said, when I am on the third hour of lecture after being up since 6, work all day (fast paced intense work – mgr of reporting), kids, and it is 10 at night it is a little hard for me to keep up.

Sometimes you just need to complain 😉 and then find people that relate to your feeling. I'm not bagging the Yaeger review program – just need that confirmation from others that they agree with my sentiment (ie. a shoulder to cry on)

Yes, although I have only done Reg and am working on Bec now. I liked the pace of Phil's videos better, though.

I will have to check out the VLS player. I have just been using the default flash program.

I crack up at Phil. He blatantly points out that he says now way too much. I love his endorsement for Propel water and his retarded jokes.

I have found myself repeatedly stopping the video to take notes (I have 2 full legal pads for FAR) and the whole process to watch the entire FAR section was anywhere from 3-4 weeks since 50+ hrs is pretty much doubled with constant note-taking. I actually really enjoy Cindy and am looking forward to BEC with her. I had Becker before and it just wasn't cutting it for me (I need the visual motion of someone working through the lectures rather than seeing the text being highlighted)…kudos to everyone for finding what works and enduring what sorta works and changing what doesn't work 🙂
