    Hi everyone,

I just began reviewing BEC (Wiley) and have not come across formulas/calculations yet. However, I’m sure I will shortly. In college, I don’t believe I was prepared thoroughly, as formulas were given to us by the professors for exams 90% of the time. I’m pretty worried that I won’t be able to memorize them all (not just for BEC, but any section).

Does anyone have any advice on relearning/memorizing the formulas when it comes time for that in the coming weeks? Thank you so much!

write out the formula every time you work a problem. I make formula sheets and rewrite them several times also.

With formulas the best way I've found to memorize them is to work with them, a lot. Then what you really memorize is the process of solving the problem rather than a bunch of variables. Try to understand what the formula is doing and how it does it, that way you can remember the logical path. I've found that if I try to just memorize formulas, the stress of exam day can cause some real problems pulling that stuff up.

Thank you both! I'll definitely work on repitition of writing them for each problem as well as memorizing the processes/what they mean.

Repetition and repetition. For instance, I'm doing BEC now and had never heard of the Capital Asset Pricing Model before. I can recite to you in my sleep now that

CAPM= Risk Free Rate + (beta x (Market Rate – Risk Free Rate))

And did I say repetition is the key?

On My Way to a CPA...

    FAR- 83 (12/02/12) (Try #1...by some miracle)
BEC- 80 (2/23/13) (Try #1... by some miracle)
AUD- 77 (05/04/13) (Try #1... by some miracle)
    REG- 79 (08/03/13)(Try #1... by some miracle)
