I am taking BEC again after a 73 too, Just take a deep breath, focus on the call of each question, pray your exam does not have too many calculations. If you can pass FAR this is also something you can so. Just stay calm and do one question at a time. Bet you will recall more than you think. Getting a good night of sleep is bound to be worth a few points tomorrow! Good luck!
Today I have been working problems and focusing on the call of the question. Hoping this helps in the actual test situation.

InactiveI will start studying today for BEC. Do you think I have time to study until July 31?

Last testing window a lady from NYC studied 9 – 10 hrs per day with a study group and she passed. She was strong in cost accounting I think. Anyway – for about 10 days they lived and breathed BEC. One of the Mom's even came in to cook!
That being said – it is possible. But the range of material is a lot. Doubt I could do it. I am more the turttle thaan then the hare and have been out of school for a long time. But you did so well on FAR. It is possible.
I did very well on Becker chapters 1, 2 and 4. Did ok on chapter 3. Ran out of time on reviewing problems a 2nd time on chapter 5 and bombed it.
My exam was pretty heavy on calculations – and I just felt the time pressure more than I should.
Hope this helps. Do yo have another exam scheduled for Aug? If you did not feel ready could you let the test date slid a week or two?
Good luck.

InactiveI have REG on August 31. I start working on September. I think I will start with chapter 5 and then 3, 2, 4, 1

InactiveWish you the best!
Chapter 2 – Econ is about 10% of the test. So if you have to be careful about study hours keep that in mind. Chapter 1 is straightforward – few calculations. Chpater 4 – IT and Chapter 5 are weighted about the same value. Max your points in Chapter 3, 4 and 5. Pick up as many as you can in Chapter 1 and then get the highlights out of Chapter 2.

Participantcpa journey when are you resitting for BEC? what study materials are you using? i was using Becker my first 2 attempts and then ordered Yaeger homestudy. i feel like a lightbulb went off with the NPV stuff. cindy does an amazing job of explaining it AND working through problems with you, which becker doesn't do. becker worked for me for AUD and REG, though so i am not knocking it.
i feel much better now that i actually have a better understanding of how to calculate NPV and PV, etc. just gotta keep working the m.c. now. i sit for BEC july 19
AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

Monday – so Iam in the review stage now. I am still using Becker – to be honest if I had budgeted my time better and gotten through the second pass at chapter 5 I would have been ok. I did pretty well on 1, 2 & 4. So- so on chpater 3 but fizzled on chapter 5. My exam had a lot of calculations ( I woulde guess at least 30%) and I just felt rushed. Hoping Monday won't be bad. Practiced doing the calculations a lot.
I also supplement Becker with Gleim MCQ testbank.
Isn't funny – that information presented in a slightly different way can finally make sense? Good luck to you on July 19th. I will send a little prayer up for you.

Good luck – hope you do well. You may want to keep a couple of examples of the key calculations and review them every couple of days to keep the material fresh om upi head.

ParticipantUsed Becker:
Studied for 1 month + work:
2 weeks of medium study
2 weeks of intense review
Felt pretty good after the end of the exam, nothing to tricky, followed the basics, but we'll see…I felt alot better coming out of BEC than coming out of FAR.
FAR: TBA: Studying
REG: 07/23/11: Studying
BEC: 07/10/10: Passed (8/23)
AUD: 05/23/11: WaitingJuly 12, 2010 at 6:52 pm #249671Anonymous

InactiveCpa Journey,
How did it go I'm taking BEC tomorrow

InactiveIt was fair. I took BEC in April and had an exam that was probably over 30% calculations. I felt hampered by time constraints from the first testlet. Soldiered on and finished with about a minute to spare. Felt pretty bad – but actually made a 73.
This exam was fair also – there were plenty of calculations but not as many as the first exam. Finished with 19 minutes to spare. Wish I had this exam the first time around. Used Becker with Gleim test bank MCQ as a supplement. There were few surprises. If you use Becker – Chapter 3, 4 and 5 are heavily covered. The homework question will prepare you well.
There was one odd question that I had no clue about. It had been something I looked up on the internet months ago to get a bit more information about. The funny thing – the little bit I had researched was not part of any of the answers available. It did make me laugh. But that was just one odd ball question.
Good luck! Post your thoughts after the exam.

InactiveJusta75- Best of luck tomorrow. I think you'll find the actual exam to be less intense than your review questions.
CPA Journey- I also took BEC today and finished with about 20 minutes to spare. Did you find IT to be tested heavily? I have been sweating Chp. 4 for a couple weeks only to have just a few questions today from this section.

Had several from Chapter 4 – IT – most seemed pretty much in line with Becker. It does feel good to finish with time to spare. I did go back and check a couple of answers . Normally, I don't do this. Changed one and reworked two other problems and felt the original answer was correct.
What is your next exam?
Hope you did well and can put BEC behind you.

Participantcpa journey – i thought about you today! glad to hear your exam went a little better than the first one. i take mine next monday. i am on disk 5 of 6 with the Yaeger homestudy. have about 5 more hours of lecture left. the great thing about Yaeger is that the instructor (mainly Cindy) goes over multiple choice questions with you!!
i have to admit i was definitely lost with becker with a lot of the calculation topics and of course got asked to calculate different formulas on the exam. i had no idea! i feel better this time around…hoping it is worth the 4 points! i will have 5 days to just focus on reworking m.c. hopefully it is enough!
good luck justa75!
AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
