Yea everyone has a hard time understanding this test, and its implications on life… The thread that was up a while ago about stupid things said by co-workers/family was awesome! They just do not get it…
I honestly got to the point where I wouldn't even say why I was busy because everyone would say “can't you do that another night…” sure I could but then I will have to study twice as much, then that turns into 4 times as much, etc. Then they ask “why do you want to be a CPA anyway, sounds like too much work.” – if they only knew
well all I can say is I'm grateful I decided not to move home this summer and live with my boyfriend who is much more understanding about this… not like he understands but he knows I'm stressed and tries to help me with it and does a lot around the house…. ooo well hopefully <9 hrs now until results…..
Michelle119, When I was faced with your situation, I took the approach your mother is suggesting. I didn't want to loose focus on the exam that I was currently studying for, so I waited until after next exam and checked.
@Trevor parents/relatives seem to be the worst. I tell them I can't come visit (about a 3 hour drive round trip) because I have to study, and they just think I'm avoiding them. I can do a LOT of studying in 3 hours. They just don't understand because they've never tried anything like this in their lives.
I guess I'm lucky, my parents and husband have been very supportive. My husband cleans the house and cooks me dinner when things get hectic a couple of weeks before the exam (I enjoy cooking, so normally I don't mind cooking during the ‘non-peak' study times). My parents just say ‘I have no clue what you're doing, but I hear it's really hard, so take the study time you need!'
I'm sorry cpacpa – since it is acting funny, maybe it isn't reliable anymore. It seems they have fixed whatever the issue was a few minutes ago now, because I'm getting the same messages I got earlier this morning.
