ParticipantHey everyone, I plan on taking my test the middle of July or as soon as I am able to schedule it when I get my NTS. I am using Becker and have taken notes on Ch. 1, 2, 4 and using Jeff's Econ notes. Have yet to start on Ch. 5, but know I need to. If anybody wants to share their ideas about their studying arrangements or would like to discuss different BEC topics I am all for it.

June 25, 2010 at 3:52 pm #249619jeff
KeymasterWhat do you mean by “conducts” my videos? Not sure I understand..
June 25, 2010 at 4:59 pm #249620Anonymous
InactiveAre they similar to the Yeager homestudy or cram videos. Is it Phil, Cindy or somone else not associated with Yeager.

KeymasterSome areas are from the HomStudy…others are Phil teaching directly to Club 75 members in a special filming.
It costs a penny to check them out.

InactiveNess – I'm taking my BEC exam next Friday, July 2. Unfortunately, I feel the least prepared I've been for an exam, so I'm starting to stress out a little bit. Work has been extremely busy the past two weeks, so I lost some valuable study time. I feel like I've nailed down lectures 1 and 2 (I've re-read the chapters and redone the homework getting over 90%). I hope tonight to cram in lecture 4, since I feel it is a little easier than lecture 3. At some point, I'm going to have to really cram for lectures 3 and 5 and take the practice exams this weekend. Needless to say, I have a LOT of work to do. Any last minute suggestions for really tackling lectures 3 and 5? I'm considering buying Jeff's notes. I would push back my exam date, but then I run the risk of not getting enough time to study REG, which I have scheduled for August 27. Busy, busy, busy weekend for me!

Participantbmw.cpa – I am with you on this. I have not prepared myself for BEC as much as I prepared for my previous exams due to work being so busy and the like. I am sitting on 7/9, orignially was going to take it on 7/3 but pushed it back. I will be doing some major cramming these next 2 weeks and I am scared out of my mind! Any tips would be helpful! All the best of luck with your studies bmw.cpa!!!

Participantbmw.cpa-I would definitely get Jeff's notes, he has got some for Ch. 2 and Ch. 4 for Becker so that would really help you to get a lot of the major points down for Ch. 4. I have listened to all the lectures and almost finished answering all the questions except for about the last 200 in Ch. 5. I am in kind of the same situation that you are in I am going to take Auditing at the end of August and want to devote enough time to that. I just received my payment coupon and will be paying that within the next few days and hopefully get my NTS by July 3 or 4 and then however long it will take me to be able to schedule a time at the testing site. If I think I am going to end up with less than 6 weeks to study auditing after I take my BEC, I will probably stop studying BEC for a week and do the first lecture for Auditing and then go back the next week for my 2 week cram for BEC where I really study everything.

ParticipantHi Everyone!
I plan on sitting for BEC towards the end of July. I am just starting to begin the study process for this exam using Becker. Advice from my coworkers have been to really spend most of my time focusing on Ch. 5 and 3. Since the lectures do not build on each other as other sections do, I think I am going to start off with the harder ones and end with the easier. Not sure if it will work or not but this is what I have been told 🙂
BMW.CPA- I remember seeing you from the long-awaited results of the FAR exam and I see you passed! Congratulations.

I am studying 1, 2 & 4 then doing chapter 3 & 5. Just be sure to skim the old material to keep it fresh. I agree these chapter do not really build on each other. 3 & 5 have a lot of problems and some are time consuming to do. Also, chapter 4 & 5 are weighted more than the others and chapter 2 is only about 10%.
Good luck!

ParticipantHello Everyone…. I am in desperate for some advice on BEC. I have taken it 3 times w/ scores all between 60-70. I have only used Becker materials to study. I studied a lot each time for BEC and am still failing. It is becoming very frustrating. Has anyone had more success w/ BEC study materials from someone else other than the Becker materials? My only concern is that I would only need to buy BEC materials if I purchased the another product as I don't need any other course material. Any advice is soo much appreciated. I have truly had it w/ BEC, it is making me depressed. 🙁

Used Becker as my main study material and then purchased the Gleim testbank. I did well on everything but chapter 5. My test had a lot of problems and I just ran out of time.
I made a 73 in April so I am re-taking BEC next week. I messed up by not leaving enough time to practice Ch 5 problems. So this time I have done a review of 1, 2 and 4. Finishing up chpater 3 today and will take several days to review chapter 5 problems. I hope my speed picks up so that if my test has a loy of problems it will be doable in the time allowed.
What did your analysis indicate? Do you know your weak areas? The Gleim testbank can be downloaded frpm pnline and is about $60.

ParticipantReady2BDone,
I completely understand where you are coming from. I have BEC left to finish, taken it 3 times with scores of 71,74, and 74. I used only CPAexcel the first two times and on the last try made the mistake of jumping around to different books (I got a free Kaplan through work, bought the Wiley book, and used CPAexcel). This time, after a lot of suggestion on these boards I decided to buy Yaeger Homestudy. This time I am only using Yaeger. So far it is very good, they break up the Wiley book really well so that you are inundated with material. I would recommend it, but remember I just started using it, I haven't taken BEC after studying with it (just as a disclaimer). GOOD LUCK!
Also, anyone who has used Yaeger, do you find that IT isn't taught that much. I am a little nervous about the whole “read this yourself, do the MCQs I recommend, and repeat”. If someone has used this and feels that it helped, I could use a little calming down about it. Thanks.

InactiveHas anyone used Roger review course for BEC? I'm curious to see if his material is well covered, since it's all multiple choice I want a clear understanding of everything! I see many people on here are using Becker. Please share your thoughts, I'm trying to sit for the exam by the end of July…. but we'll see. Best of luck to everyone!

When you re-took the BEC exam was the test pretty much the same each time or did it change a lot? I am re-taking BEC next week.
Thanks
