Please tell me that Becker is just trying to scare me to death. For B2, I have never seen such overly convoluted questions in any of the 3 other sections. Even some in B1. I don’t know how in the world anyone could pass BEC with the questions that they have here. I mean, some of these questions I am spending 8 minutes on. In your experience, did Becker way overprepare you for B1 & B2?

Do them, do them many many times. You will thank Becker when you get to the exam and go “really? This is elementary”.

I'd throw in Wiley's over complicated questions as a secondary bank and you'll do find on the exam.

That is true i thought the exam calculation problems were much more simplistic then Beckers, to the point that leaving Prometric i felt i failed because the test was too easy. Becker does a very good job with the calculations in their questions, like the previous poster said, buckle down and know them and when the exam comes the calculations should be easier. That was at least what i have heard and experienced.

    FAR - 88 (Jul 2012)
    AUD - 85 (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 82 (Nov 2012)
    REG - 92 (Jan 2013) DONE!

Thanks for the tips. Not the answer that I want to hear, but certainly the best advice. I guess I underestimated this section :-/

Think of it like training for a boxing match, you are sparring against someone bigger and tougher then you so when you get into the ring the fight seems easy

    BEC - Pass
    REG - Pass
    AUD - Pass
    FAR - Pass

You're not alone. I took BEC first and when I went though B1 and B2 using Becker, I was like “WTF” is this. The questions in B1 and B2 are wayyyyyyy harder than the actual exam. I also remember many of the questions on the HW weren't really discussed in the book and you had to read the explanation at the bottom to understand.

You're going to get a lot wrong the first time you do the HW on B1 and B2 but just read the explanation at the bottom and learn from it and you'll be fine. I remember i averaged like 55-60% the first time on B1 and B2 HW and I ended up with an 81 on the real test. Just make sure the second time you go through the HW as part of your final review, that you're scoring in the 80s.

B3-B6 are much much easier in my opinion and will go much faster than the first two.

Beckers 2nd final exam in the software is also wayy hard for BEC so don't get discouraged. I had taken it the night before my test and got like a 59% and was so worried until my buddy who'd already taken the exam reassured me.

I was very surprised when i got to the actual test how much easier the questions were.

    BEC- 10/5/12- 81
    FAR- 11/30/12- 80
    AUD- 1/15/13- 89
    REG- 2/28/13- 92

Becker is simply putting you through boot camp with the cost accounting stuff. BEC was my first section and I thought “oh my God is every section of studying going to be like this?”

But if you really struggle though it you will be really prepared come test day. And it's likely those cost accounting problems will be on the test in a most simplistic format and you'll get them right with your eyes closed. And those are probably considered harder questions and thusly higher point value.

    BEC-86 (07/07/12)
    FAR-87(08/25/12)
    AUD-93(10/08/12)
    REG-87(11/17/12)

Out of all of all four sections of Becker, B2 was one of the hardest chapters for me. Hands down. The only others that could compare in difficulty were a couple of FAR chapters. But yes, BEC does get easier after the first 2-3 chapters are done. And surprisingly, I found the second run through of B2 to be a lot easier. Things started clicking. The first time I was going through it I felt like I didn't even know what the words meant, but second time through I started grasping concepts.

Its sucky, but you can totally do this. Good luck!

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

I feel the same way, I was like theres no way this can be considered “easy”. I thought FAR chapters were much simpler. Some of the B1 questions were absurd.

The optional questions in B2 and B3 are so extremely difficult compared to the MCQ's. It's so discouraging to come across these super difficult questions. I know its to better prepare you but hot damn! come on now.

If you would like to pass, there are no optional questions. Do them all, multiple times.

A couple people at work are studying. One used Yaeger which told them to do certain questions in the Wiley test bank. Another used Becker but only did the suggested questions. Both failed.

I can tell you from Wiley experience that in most cases, Wiley questions are only semi-repetitive. You won't typically get many that test the exact same theory. What you will get are questions which test at different angles and different pieces of the puzzle. By not doing them, you are guaranteeing that items which cannot possibly be covered in the notes are not in your arsenal come test day.

I've done the ‘one time through, hitting representative questions' and I was four for twenty one on the exams. I did the CPAPending/Wiley ‘do them all multiple times' way and I was four for five (with a hiccup because life got in the way). I know what I am talking about on this one.

I'll just echo what others have said. The Becker calculation questions are just mean and make you feel like you are beating your head against a wall at times. This is most true on the cost accounting topics and to a somewhat lesser degree on the finance questions. Once you get a feel for them though you should find the actual exam to be easier. The practice final exams in BEC are also exceptionally brutal and heavy on crazy calculations. Just be aware of it and don't let it get you down. Work through them. Once you understand those homework questions it will be smooth sailing on exam day……well as smooth as exam day can be anyhow.
