Is it appropriate to “plagiarize” the prompt when doing a written communication question for BEC?

It seems like that is Becker’s recommendation, but I don’t want to take it too literally.

For example, if the prompt says to “describe the impact of aggregate demand factors,” is it acceptable to begin my response with “The purpose of this memo is to discuss the impact of aggregate demand factors”?

Going to email Becker the same question, but curious what you all think.

I don't think that's plagiarizing at all. If one paraphrases the reason for a document and uses the same terms – that's not stealing content it's reiterating back. I'm just a caveman when it comes to how they score these docs but I suspect there are computerized analyses which look for terms which are defined in the topic.

What I might say is “the purpose of this doc is x,y,z(in terms of instructions” followed by “<the audience> wants to do this because… (this can be in your words). So it reiterates the terms to make the computer algorithm happy and then you expound to show business acumen. Win-win.
