So, I’m a little confused.

For the BEC Written Communication, will the written communication be on BEC related topics only?

Or are all topics fair game?

(For example, could they ask you to write a memo to advise a tax client, etc..)

Everyone I ask gives me a different answer, so I am asking the experts!

First, don't stress about the WC!! If you are a decent writer at all, then this is the least of your worries with all the exams.

On my exam, I had two WC that were FAR topics – but they were fairly basic. Since you have already studied for and passed all the other sections, you should have enough basic knowledge to be able to write something for just about any topic you get. There is some debate out there as to whether the answer has to be factually correct (I personally doubt it unless you are on the “BEC bubble” and your answer is manually graded). I think the more important thing is to mention some key words and structure your response properly.

Allocating your time for the WC is probably the key thing to focus on. You have 3 to write and will likely need about 15 minutes each. Make sure you leave enough time to write a complete answer for each.
