BEC – Written Communication

I have dedicated the majority of the last 16 months of my life to the CPA exam and now I have 10 days left to possibly being completely finished. I can’t express to you how much I am looking forward to never having to study for a test again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I’ve already taken BEC two times and made a 71 and 70. Both times my score report said I did stronger on multiple choice and weaker on written communication which kills me because most people talk about the written section as an easy way for free points. I’m so close and I have to make sure I pass this time.

My grammer has always been very poor and I’ve never took the time to learn where to properly place commas, etc.. Do you think I should try and memorize the opening and closing paragraphs to the memos? I know I would have to tweak each letter a little, but I would think that the opening and closing paragraphs could be very similar on all three memos.

It’s ridiculous… I have my masters in tax and am very close to having my CPA and I still don’t have a strong grasp on where to properly place commas. How I made it is this far is beyond me…

Pick up a basic grammar book and spend a little time with it. Maybe not before your exam, but clear and clean writing is a huge benefit in the working world. There are people in my office that will send work related emails using text/internet abbreviations and slang that just looks pitiful.

Your last line made me laugh… It's true though. You literally could pick up an elementary school grammar book and get the basics down.
