Hi,

I am probably overthinking this, but I was considering different ways to close my memo tomorrow. I am not a great writer and this section of the exam is really worrying me. Specifically I was thinking about these endings:

Please feel free to contact me with additional questions or concerns you might have.

Please feel free to contact me with ANY additional questions or concerns you might have.

Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns.

I understand I can probably use any of these closings as they are very similar, but does one sound better than the other? Also can someone suggest some other good ways to close a memo

Option #3. But remove “any”. “Please feel free to contact me with additional questions or concerns”. Being succinct and precise, and using an active voice, are key to polished business writing. Of course, since this section will likely be graded by an algorithm, I've heard the key to success is restating the question, using intro, middle, and end paragraphs, and utilizing appropriate segues between paragraphs (furthermore, however, additionally), and finally using as many buzzwords as possible.

Thank you for your response. Very helpful. Is there a closing you can recommend if I wanted to set up a meeting. For example:

I am available to meet with you at your convenience to discuss this issue.

From other posts, I think most people write something along the lines of:

“For further information or clarification, please contact me and we can discuss at your convenience”.

Basically, my rule of thumb when writing is seeing how many words I can remove from the original sentence. Although, I'm not convinced this response is requiring that level or writing. I think using the “right” words specific to the topic may trump everything else. Though, if I get a topic I know nothing about, I'll have to lean on my writing skills.

I sit for BEC tomorrow – hoping we both never have to deal with this section again. I had no idea how painful it would be. So much for BEC being easy!
