I’ve heard that content doesn’t matter and that it’s best to be short and concise.

Why does Becker’s practice simulations say that content is graded in the directions?

Also, I write about 2-3 sentences per paragraph, with 3-4 paragraphs total.

I just want to know if that is too “short” because the example that Becker gives seems like an ESSAY compared to mine. Their examples of “bad” written communications are also very short (but uses bullet points and abbreviations, which I know not to do.)

P.S. I am taking BEC next Tuesday!

My understanding is that you are not being graded as to whether or not your response is technically correct, but you are being graded as to whether or not your response includes content appropriate to the question. For example, if you're asked a question comparing FIFO and LIFO (total made up situation-not one of the questions on my exam) you need to address the differences between the two in your response, but it doesn't matter if the facts you state are correct or not.

I think the description of your writing sounds fine. To me, Becker's good answers are a little too wordy. I think that they are trying to get the point across that you need to develop your answers a bit. My style of writing is similar to yours. However, my responses did end up a little longer than I expected because the questions were such that I had to address multiple points which I thought worked best in separate paragraphs. I took the test 2 weeks ago so I don't have my score yet, but I think I did OK.

    Good luck!!!

You have to remember that Becker tries to prepare you to the Nth degree. Of course they're going to give you legnthly answers, but you have to remember that I doubt the person who came up with the answer provided gave that exact answer under exam taking conditions. 🙂

Keep you head up and keep plugging away at it. I think the examiners are really looking for “does this individual know how to write in a professional business manner.”

    Best of luck to you!
