S – A = Difference

P($) D x A quantity purchased
U(q) D x S price
R($) D x A hrs
E(hrs) D x S Wage rate

Example: for material price variance
Standard price ($) – Actual Price ($) = Difference x A (A)ctual quantity purchased.

Came in super helpful today during exam. No problem with variances on today's test.
