BEC Today….Why did I even study?

I took BEC today and I gotta say that alot of the questions were completely out of left field (words and concepts I had never heard of before) as well as questions that were very very minor topics in Becker. I left the test being like why the hell did I even study all that time for this test when I basically used none of it on the test. BEC was by far the hardest for me to grasp however I put in alot of time to learn the concepts I cant believe some of the questions I got. Anybody have a similar experience?

Yep, I had some questions on BEC that were ridiculous and poorly written and I was like, WTF?! Don't worry too much because those could have been pretest questions that you got. Also, I remember getting two questions that were almost the same, lol.

    AUD - 88!!! DONE!!!!!!!!

I think I may have passed. Remember, there are pretest questions that may have been the oddball ones you faced. I had some questions that were really odd. But also had some questions that were so obviously easy the selections were kind of funny. It was overall more fun than REG. But who knows. Becker did have some shortfalls with their review. Errors with some of the key ratios that I didn't know until hours trying to find out why I couldn't get it. LOL. I was fried out by then.

When you say, “minor,” are you referring to the ancillary sections? If REG taught me one thing it is to give equal weight to those sections. I didn't even read them and as a result barely passed.

    REG 80 2/7/11
    FAR 91 10/8/11
    AUD 97 11/22/11
    BEC 96 2/4/12

@Chech4, I felt the exact same way! I studied my tail off. I went through every Becker MCQ twice, plus tons of progress tests. I went through all 600 of the Wiley MCQs twice as well! STILL, I would get a bunch of questions asking myself “what the heck is this? I honestly have no idea, I'll just guess.” To be honest I had to guess on quite a few… which leads me to believe maybe I didn't pass 🙁 Which is likely. Gah.

I remember 2 of my questions being almost the same. I also had a lot of easy ones and some I had never seen before that were no-brainers. I almost laughed at loud at those questions. The ones that were poorly worded/really ridiculous I really think were pretest.

    @Yvonne570, I think we both passed!! 🙂

@Chech4- Looking at your REG and AUD scores, I'm predicting that you'll get a 90 on this. You sound like the kind of person who says, “Oh I failed so badly” but then gets a 90+ on the test.

Anyways…. BEC has such a small amount of material, so they expect you study everything, including the small stuff. BEC is one exam where you can't leave any stone unturned.

Chech4- OMGGGG I felt the exact same way. The material was not what I studied at all. I don't expect to have the same questions, but geez the topics I should have at least recognized a bit. At least enough to take a good guess.

This is my 2nd time taking BEC and i felt as if I never studied the material. I hated that feeling. I'm crossing toes and fingers for the both of us to pass. Good Luck!

    AUD – 75

BEC – 65, January 9th- Waiting on Score

    REG – 68, 81

    FAR – Q2
