BEC Thursday

As the title says, I’m taking BEC Thursday. I’m using Becker and have worked all of the questions multiple times, and I’ve done both the practice exams. I have done almost none of the WC stuff. I watched the lecture on it and did just a few of them in the homework. Should I spend the rest of my time on this (I study full time) or concentrate more on keeping the MC fresh in my mind?

    Appreciate any advice!

I wouldn't worry so much about the WC. If you're getting decent scores on the MCQs, you can probably answer or at least be able to BS whatever questions they throw your way. I would focus at this point on making sure you have the formulas committed to memory. Only a handful of them even end up showing up on the exam, but it's no way to know what ones you'll be asked. I would also read over the COSO stuff a few times and read over the IT stuff once more. Good luck!

I think I read somewhere that the WC can have questions that don't relate to the BEC material. Is that true and should I be worried about getting a question like that? I have already taken all the other tests however I feel like I wouldn't be able to remember anything from them cause my head is so full of BEC material right now.

Mine were all technically BEC related, however one was kind of an overlap from another section. I thought the 3 memos asked some pretty basic stuff, so if you've taken the other parts and have studied adequately for BEC, you shouldn't have any trouble. And remember they aren't graded for accuracy, but rather for how well you write. Besides, they could give you any range of topics to write about, so that's why I think just focusing on MCQ's and reviewing COSO and IT will be sufficient.

I know this is unsolicited advice, but thought I'd share anyways. I allowed 45 minutes for the WC. First I went through and wrote rough drafts for all 3 and had about 15 minutes to go back through and fine tune them. That way if I ran out of time, I at least had something written for all of them. I think it'd be better to have all 3 mostly complete than to have 1 perfectly done and the other 2 blank.

I know I've said this before and will say it again – know your formulas. You can get some pretty easy points just by doing this! Several of the problems were a piece of cake as long as you knew which formula to use.

Okay I'll definitely hit IT and corporate governance tomorrow then. I was kind of planning on giving myself an hour for the WC so hopefully I will be able to get through the first three testlets fairly quickly. If not I'll take your advice and try to get something down for all three before fine tuning them.

    Thanks for the help.
