    Hello Everyone!

I just took FAR on July 31st and gave myself a few days off to mentally recover. I am starting BEC prep today (using Becker) and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or thoughts on the material covered in BEC, as compared to FAR?

    Easier? Harder?

First of, lol at your name. 😉

Second, BEC is very different from FAR. Much less info, virtually no reporting requirements. It's more about understanding concepts (duh 😉 ) and cost accounting.

Easier or harder depends on who you are. For me, BEC was easier. I'm better at concepts than rules, and better at cost accounting than stupid stuff like governmental and pensions…so I thought BEC was much easier! But, there's other people for whom BEC is harder.

However, regardless of whether it's easy or hard for you, you can do it! 🙂 I am a big supporter of a break post-exam…and now you're ready to tackle BEC and show it who's boss. Good luck!

I agree with @Elisabeth. I found BEC to be a lot easier. The amount of material in FAR was impossible to remember while i felt that BEC was a lot easier to remember. Personally, I felt that BEC was a lot easier to handle because I liked economics and cost accounting. FAR for me was a battle and I am currently reviewing for the retake. If you got through Becker for FAR you will loved BEC! Good luck to you!

Took BEC as my first exam with Becker. Go though the MC's a bunch (I did 1500 on top of the homework – probably overkill). I would say 25% of the questions that came my way exam day were word-for-word the same as Becker questions. BEC was the easiest studying so far. (I do NOT like AUD, but I passed!) I take FAR Wednesday and do not feel nearly as confident as when I went into BEC, even though I nearly doubled my study hours. Best of luck!

    BEC - 84
    AUD - 79
    FAR - 89
REG - 8/30/13 Waiting, hoping to be done!
    Ethics - Passed

Becker BEC has a lot of calculation problems that are multi-step and fairly complex. I found that some questions took like 6 minutes to do! don't fret, probably wont get ones that complex on test day. However, they are still good MCQ's to hammer-in the concepts, so don't skip anything.

I found FAR more challenging(still cant believe my score..) just because of it's never ending content. however, BEC cant be taken lightly. Fever topics, but you still need to know them inside and out.

Good luck, keep your fingers crossed for FAR, I felt sick after that test and it all worked out!
