Hi Everyone, I just took Audit (awaiting score) and plan on taking BEC in 1 month. I took it in the last session and got missed it by 5 points. What do you think the best study plan for the next month would be? I have becker and the final reviews, just not sure which would be the best route to best use my time – not sure if anyone else had limited time to prepare for this exam and can help.

    Thanks!

Hey Cole, I'm just getting back in the swing of things to finish off my CPA over the summer (I passed FAR and AUD last summer… Got busy with work and haven't had time to do the last 2 parts until now). Anyhow, I am taking REG this weekend than am transitioning over to study and take BEC in August.

With that being said, I actually just took a look at the BEC book today to sort of outline a plan for myself. Generally, when I sit down to plan how I'm going to study for one of my sections I start with the easiest chapters first and then work towards the harder ones. I do this because I want to have the toughest material fresh in my head the closest to test day as possible. Here is how I set up my study schedule for BEC:

    (Note I am using Becker's 2011 materials/book)

    Week 1 (7/30 – 8/5): Chapter 4: IT

    Week 2 (8/6 – 8/12): Chapter 2: Economics

    Week 3 (8/13 – 8/19): Chapter 3: Finance

    Week 4 (8/20 – 8/26): Chapter 1: Corporate Governance and Operations Management

Week 5 (8/27 – 8/30) Chapter 5: Strategic Planning (I'm on vacation the whole week which is why I'm only dedicating 4 days to it)

Test day is on 8/31 at night

I think in general the above outline is a pretty good plan of attack for getting this guy knocked out. If there would be one thing I could suggest, it would be that I think you can probably cut out some time in Weeks 1-3 if you really work at it (maybe 1-2 days a week) which will give you 3-6 extra days to review (i.e. pound out MCQs as hard as possible).

On the other hand, I think BEC is/will be one of my strongest tests I take just due to the fact that on top of having an accounting degree, I also have a Bachelors in Finance and a minor in Economics. To top it all off, I'm a pretty big computer nerd as well…. That basically takes care of the first three chapters there (which is why I have those ranked as my three easiest).

All-in-all, if you have a full month to dedicate to BEC, you should be golden (thank god there are no task-based sims on this one). Good luck to you next month!

    AUD - 85
    FAR - 78 (lol@ FAR Sims)
    REG - 85
    BEC - August
