Rescheduled for Oct 28. I have sat for BEC two times now, once in 2010 when this section was non adaptive and no sims/writing and once this window with the changes. I received a 74 on the old method not putting much time into studying. This last time, I spent quite a bit of time studying and got a 69. I am wondering for those who have passed in 2011, what did you do to prepare for BEC. For the other 3 I felt writing the notes and knowing the concepts was my key. On BEC 2011 I have written the notes and learned the basic concepts for each area which seemed to be worse than (2010) watching lectures and busting out the multiple choice questions.

I have never done well with reading to learn, I need more application than that. But if others have had success reading the chapters thoroughly then its worth a shot.

I used CPAexcel exclusively (and google of course) and passed with a 76. Not sure if you are familiar with this software but it breaks everything down into “bite-sized” lessons where you spend maybe an hour in each section which includes watching a lecture, reading the text, answer proficiency questions (all T/F based on your comprehension of the reading), answer MCQs, and reading flashcards. I actually skipped the IT section b/c it was so dang hard for me and prayed that my IT question(s) would be “what is the best password!” The other part I skipped was the writing portion. I figured I am a good enough writer that I can BS my way through most topics even if I know nothing about it and at least get a few points for proper grammar, spelling, etc. The other thing I noticed about my test is that every single computation related to the cost-accounting portion was very basic/easy. The problems I did in CPAexcel were way more difficult. Make sure you can do those cost-accounting problems inside and out. I had a lot of them and fortunately knew (and remembered) how to do them. I have never taken notes on what I studied but it seems to work for folks so I think I may start b/c I need to get REG passed before credits start expiring. Best of luck.

    AUD - 83
    FAR - 78
    BEC - 76
    REG - 86 PTL!!!!!

Used CPAExcel & Wiley testbank (awesome by the way)

i posted this in another thread but here is what i did

this time around i switched from becker to yaeger as my main review. i listened to the lectures, took notes, read the modules and took more notes, did all mcq in wiley book and software and took more notes, typed my notes in word doc and rewrote the notes (all 60 something pages) by hand. i also listened to the IT lecture again, i didn't write notes on the IT section, just read the chapter over and over. i supplemented with becker on areas i wanted more practice in

for WC, know how to write in proper form (intro/body/end), it is true that your answer doesn't have to be correct. on 1 of the WC i purposely put an incorrect answer cuz i just wanted to fill in something cuz i didn't know all of the correct answer (might of been pretest tho, who knows?)

also, i gave myself plenty of time to study (march-july) so i would feel prepared and just barely made it over the hump

    REG-65,71,74,73,70,74,79
    BEC-60's,60's,69,71,76*,78
    FAR-67,66,65,79
    AUD-54,60's,65,83*,69,80
    *expired

    DONE
