A hospital is comparing last year's emergency rescue services expenditures to those from 10 years ago. Last year's expenditures were $100,500. Ten years ago, the expenditures were $72,800. The CPI for last year is 168.5 as compared to 121.3 ten years ago. After adjusting for inflation, what percentage change occurred in expenditures for emergency rescue services?

    a.

    18.1% decrease.

    b.

    13.8% increase.

    c.

    38.0% increase.

    d.

    0.6% decrease.

I am so lost with the wording “capacity issues”.

    1) Excess Capacity vs. No Excess Capacity, which also means ‘Full Capacity'.

Please, can someone explain to me like I am a two-year old. {I feel like I am only 22 months old now, LOL} Simple English only please.

For example, the machinery can only produce 100,000 units, which is (I understand) the maximum capacity. In making a decision rather to accept a special project or make or buy, let's say, accepting a special project would require 120,000 units….is that excess capacity or with no excess capacity? (I looked up online to get an answer, but I can only read words, hardly ever understand them!)

    Thanks!

Choice “a” is correct. The consumer price index (CPI) is a measure of the overall cost of a fixed basket of goods and services purchased by an average household. The inflation rate is calculated as the percentage change in the CPI from one period to the next. By extension, nominal costs can be deflated to price level adjusted amounts by dividing a base year price index by the current year price index. The current fact pattern anticipates the following computation:

Base year – emergency rescue service

    72,800

Current year costs times the ratio of base to current year indices: $100,500 × (121.3 / 168.5) =

    72,348

    Difference (decrease)

    (452)

The percentage change in the expenses is simply the change divided by the base year computed as follows: (452) / 72,800 = .6% decrease.

    Hello guys!

I just took FAR yesterday and began studying for BEC last night. My exam was on 11/30, but I just found out about the early Dec test dates and moved it to 12/6. With any luck, this will be me last exam.

I just got through corporate governance and the 17 principles of the COSO framework. I can tell it's going to be a fun two weeks.

    Good luck to everyone!

How would one calculate the expected interest rate when given the following data?

    There's a 10% probability of a 40% increase, a 15% probability of a 10% increase etc.

    FAR: 65,49,61,74,78
    AUD: 65,68,64,78

Took this beast yesterday. Had some questions where I was like “wtf” and others where I thought “man I nailed that”, but a majority were “mmmmm that seems like that right answer” lol. I had people ask me how I did and my response is always, “it's so tough to tell with these tests”. My testlets went medium, hard, medium I thought. We shall see! GLTA taking them still this window and Happy Thanksgiving! I know I'm taking a break from studying and will be enjoying it!

I wasn't aware you can take CPA exams in December? I always thought the quarter end month based on calendar years is closed for exam. How did you manage to schedule it for December? I would love to do the same.

Johnny, just go to Prometric link NOW before they close those testing centers today, LOL.

I did the same thing last night, so I am testing on 12/6.
