    Hi everyone!

My test is in 11 days (eek) per the Ninja MCQ counter (idk why I populate the exam date everytime…it makes me more stressed out).

Out of the three WC, is one thrown out similar to the SIMs? Like a “test” question to see how candidates perform?

    REG - 83
    FAR - 76
    AUD - 80!!!
    BEC - 76!!!!!!!

Please don't tell me I will see these types of problems on the test.

Newmass, Inc., paid a cash dividend to its common shareholders over the past 12 months of $2.20 per share. The current market value of the common stock is $40 per share and investors are anticipating the common dividend to grow at a rate of 6% annually. The costs to issue new common stock will be 5% of the market value. The cost of a new common stock issue will be:

    A.

    11.50%.

    B.

    11.79%.

    C.

    11.83%.

    D.

    12.13%.

    @CPAHOPEFUL11… I believe it's B, let me know if I'm right.

(dividend paid/(price of stock minus floatation costs))+growth %

So, 40*.05=2 for floatation cost, then you take 40 minus 2 to get 38. The dividend price is 2.20 so take that divided by 38 which equals .0579.

Now you have to add the dividend growth 6% to get a final answer of .1179 or 11.79%

    Answer is D

    2.2 * 0.6=.132 so then .132+2.2=2.33

    40*0.5=2 so 40-2=38

    2.33/38 +.06=12.13%

Can you look something up for me? Is adding the growth at the end of the formula for stock price growth and not dividend growth? When they say in this problem 6% it's added in the numerator because it is linked to the dividend?

Correct, see I would never get this right on the test. At least you seem to have the logic down.

    Hello,

I have a question for anyone that is using Becker for BEC.

I have the 2013 becker materials and am taking the exam November 30th. I had not opened becker in awhile, so about 2 months ago I updated all 4 of the sections. As I am going through the lectures I have noticed that the COSO components have changed. For the control environment in 2013 I used to be able to use PHRASED numonic (Philosophy and operating style of management, human resources, reporting (financial) competencies, authority and responsibility, structure, ethical values, directors) However, now when looking at the Ebook and the lectures it now says it is EBOCA (Ethics, Board independence, Organizational structure, Commitment to Competence, Accountability). This also effected the components of the ERM internal environment. Because of this I studied it and am fine with it, however, one I started doing the MC questions, they are still asking me questions about PHRASED. Which do I need to know? Why is Becker updating lectures but not the MCQs? It is starting to become very frustrating when I can't figure out what I should be studying/following. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    CPAHOPEFUL11,

Regarding the question you posted, where the answer was D) .1213. Did this come from B6? That is, if you're using Becker to study. If your not using Becker, would you be able to say that this problem uses one of the “Price Multiples” for the solution? Thanks in advance! Good luck studying!

I am not using Becker and this came off Ninja. I will try posting the explanation for the answer.
