    Since all purchases were made on credit, we could assume that 300k was cost of sales (50k of the purchases deferred under AC method) , with a 20% mark up for sales based on cost. So 300k/80% = 375k. Now, we get the 75k as the budgeted margin. I am confused. Hehehe

    I do wonder if that is an error because I just got this in Ninja:

    During the month of March, Nale Co. used $300,000 of direct materials. At March 31, Nale's direct materials inventory was $50,000 more than it was at March 1. Direct material purchases during the month of March amounted to:

    A.

    $0.

    B.

    $250,000.

    C.

    $300,000.

    Correct D.

    $350,000.

    Assume:

    BI = Beginning inventory of materials

    EI = Ending inventory of materials

    MP = Materials purchased

    MU = Materials used

    The material equation would be:

    BI + MP = MU + EI

    MP = MU + (EI-BI)

    MP = $300,000 + $50,000

    MP = $350,000

    Someone asked about this question 2 years ago on this forum. The Wiley answer appears to be incorrect.

    And anyone using Wiley to review right now:

    I am having a hard time memorizing all the formulas for BEC, I wrote them out and I have a total of 4 typed pages. What did you guys do to memorize these formulas ? should I cut back the number of formulas I am trying to memorize? which are the must know? should I have the formulas memorized before I tackle MCQ or what is your strategy ?

    Thanks

    @ On2Sum,

    I go through about 3 cups/day ever since I began studying for these exams. Can't say that I've heard of bulletproof coffee or that I'm interested in anything that has coconut but my regular cup of Joe seems to be doing the job right now. My favorite brand is King Coffee by a company called Organo Gold. It's organic with appeals to people like me (VEGANS)

    Did anyone using becker finish the optional questions for Ch. 3? I am scoring in the 80's/90's for chapter 3, but the optional questions are a different story – doing much worse. Just wondering if anyone else had trouble with them. sigh…

    I hope everyone's studying is going well (as good as it can go perhaps)!

    AUD - 73,91
    FAR - 79 - Thank you God!
    BEC - 73,79!!!!
    REG - 92 whatttt??!

    I used Becker review + flashcards, Ninja Audio, Ninja MCQ supplement on BEC and REG.

    Done! Praise God!

    if you're in the 80's and 90's for the rest I'm sure you'll be fine… I didn't score that well in them and I still feel pretty confident.

    Almost a month of review for BEC? Oh man that's more than enough. I plan on starting to study for it on the 17th, and want to take it around the 14-20th of November. What are you having trouble with?

    its just all these variables, and costs, is it unfavorable, favorable, blah, blah,blah..i really just need to sit down, go over it and make sense of it. I guess im not gonna sit for AUD this quarter =/ but hopefully i pass BEC and can have all of 2016 for reg and aud–the ones that i feel like im going to have the most trouble on

    I'm taking BEC tomorrow, and I've accepted that there's no way I can know everything going in.

    Any suggestions on what to focus on tonight?

    I was thinking:

    -DM, DL, & OH variances

    -NPV, IRR, payback, PI

    -RI, EVA, ROI (PM & Asset TO), working capital

    -COSO & ERM

    -no idea what to focus on from IT stuff, way too much for me to try and remember 🙁

    There definitely isn't as much to remember compared to FAR/REG, and you killed those tests.

    I was fortunate enough to have all the time in the world to study for those since I didn't have a job or classes then. I've had classes and a job the entire time I've studied for BEC so I've done significantly less. Hoping it will be light on the IT, macro econ, and cost of financing stuff.
