I am sitting for the Exam mid to late July.

Its been a few years since I've last sat for BEC but the IT/data systems has always annoyed me! What keeps me up at night though is the new SIMs in BEC.

The most helpful study tip I've learned is open something every day. If you only have time for 5 problems do 5 problems. I have been studying for 5 years because I get on a roll and then take 5 months off when work gets too crazy.

    REG – 92
    AUD – 5/29/18
    BEC – July 2018
    FAR – OCT 2018

Hello – my name is Zeke. I just took reg the 7th of June, and I am studying both reg (just in case if retake) and Bec. I am using Wiley for my materials. I was coming across the 17 principles of internal control, is that something we have to memorize for the test?

    2. Topics which keep me awake- IT, Process Costing, all the formulas, Variance Analysis, Working capital, practicing Written Communications & DRS
    3. Study/Career Tips- Do what benefits you, explore, invest time, do not copy others, take guidance, ensure extreme use of optimum resources available and be patient towards any of your goals.

Sitting for BEC on July 16th
The topic that keeps me awake is all of it! I have sat for this multiple times missing by just a few points! I would have to say it is mainly the SIMs.
Study or Career Tip – I find it helpful that if there is a piece I really struggle with I write it down on a note-card or post it note and place it on my monitor or keyboard so I constantly see it and can reinforce the topic. Career Tip – don't give up. I have let career get in the way too much and have learned to just sit down and get this done for myself!

    Good luck all!

So my plan is to answer each question in each section once, then see which sections I am weak in and go back and read that specific section. What is everyone's method?

    Thanks!

    For Jeff's Giveaway:

    I'm taking BEC August 6th.
The exam topic that keeps me awake at night is IT. I failed BEC before because nearly my entire exam was IT. Before the change, each of my multiple choice sets were nearly 14-18 MCQs of IT, and I had 2 IT written passages. I'm not sure how heavy my next attempt will be, but please no IT, please just put some cost accounting on my exam. Really concerned about the simulations as well, not sure what to expect with such an varying subject list.

One study tip others might benefit from is being completely honest with yourself about what you don't know. If you hate a topic, or know you're poor in that subject, buckle down, and crush hundreds of MCQs and note rewriting on the same topic. Repetition helps most for me, definitely have to keep seeing it visually over and over.

Career tip – fail forward; you will become a CPA!!

    For the giveaway.

    Taking BEC July 6th.

Anything with FORMULAS keep me awake. If it was just one or two I'd be okay, but there are so many! Right now, its specifically capital budgeting. As I progress with my studies that may change.

Career advice- Don't be discouraged by what at first appears to be a set back. Sometimed you have to go back to go forward.

Does anyone know if the actual exam has huge problems in their MCQ like Becker does or is it like FAR where Becker has you do 8 steps to get the answer but the actual exam is like 1-2 steps..

    1) Sometime in Mid-July (Haven't scheduled it yet)
    2) Variance analysis, The whole breakeven module, random formulas
    3) Keep pushing through the topics and lectures eventually certain ideas and concepts start to click after enough practice. Also, always do progress tests after completing a topic (Finish B1, do a progress test, Finish B2, do a progress test)
