aatouralParticipantThank you for the heads up. Hope you did great on it.

Spartans92ParticipantGood luck @aa. Can anyone give me some advice/recommendation as I am unsure. So the results come out on 21st and I have reg schedule for august 2. If I fail should I keep studying for bec and retake in July or move onto reg? My concern is it limits my study time for reg and my nts expires on Aug 10. Thanks. I'll probably make my decision after the score release.

mckan514wParticipantConfused– books and notes say that National Income (NI) = NDP MINUS Net Foreign Factor Income MINUS Indirect Business Taxes however just worked a question that explains that
National income (NI) is defined as net domestic product (NDP), PLUS net income earned abroad, minus indirect business taxes
Can anyone help clarify? Thanks!

Spartans92ParticipantMckan, I believe it is subtract because national income should not include income earned abroad. Im surprised how the review materials are not consistent.

mckan514wParticipantThanks Spartan- I'm having “one of those days”– and yes the material seems inconsistent and this entire BEC portion thus far just seems like complete and utter BS to me… I am having a hard time seeing how ANY OF THIS assess whether or not I am competent enough to be a public accountant and it is making me angry and frustrated and having a hard time learning such worthless facts…. grrrrrrr

Spartans92ParticipantHAHA that is understandable. You are 1/4 there just keep moving forward, you can do it! I dont like these exams either :/ Just wanna be done already. Been at it for only 4 months and I hate it. At times I enjoy learning something new but most times its like blah.
Mckan, may I also ask for some study tips on REG? I have been altering my study methods as I go so will see how BEC turns out next week.

mckan514wParticipantHa yes Spartan I just want to be done… for some reason BEC just seems incredibly pointless to me I “get” the reasoning behind knowing REG Laws and FAR (well except for Govt and NFP) but all of this economics and computer infrastructure just seems incredibly stupid — I am sure it doesn't help that the last time I gave any thought to ECON was in undergrad hundreds of years ago and I didn't like it then…. ha ha ha
REG…. ahhhhh reg… reg… reg….. ha ha ha Seriously REG is just one of those that as trite as it sounds just keep hitting as many MCQs as possible… it at least for me was the only way to really learn it and keep everything straight. Don't dwell too much or too heavily on phaseouts in your individual taxation just kind of be aware that they are there. (I actually kept an excel spreadsheet noting each phaseout that I could glance over)
I guess it helped that I like tax and law so I didn't mind putting the time in but the real key is just to work and re-work the MCQs as many times as you can so you know every which way they can humanly ask a question…. this is especially true with your S-C-Partnership and Estate basis rules… which rules I re-wrote every single time i came across a question on them.

mckan514wParticipantoh and DO NOT underestimate the B-law portion…. I actually re-ordered my study time and started with that instead of taxation so I would have longer period of time to study them….. keep everything fresh by doing a set of B-law questions EVERY SINGLE DAY

hannahFletcher16ParticipantHey guys I am having the same issues with BEC. my 3rd attempt in 18 days. scores 65 than 69. I am feeling worse this time around.
Do you have advice on how to ace sims? I scored low both times and I don't get why.
Also, how would you utilize the 10 point combo, I bought it but I don't think I am getting what I can out of it.
THANKS! GOOD LUCK!
June 14, 2016 at 3:58 pm #766849
mckan514wParticipant@hannahFletcher16 Not sure it will help but what i've been doing is just recopying the SIM answers word for word thinking that the jargon will stick since they use computers to scan for specific words… I figure the buzz words are more important than the actual content and if you can get an idea of both the content and the buzz words I may be good…. not sure it will help me at all but the way I am bombing on the MCQs on econ Im going to need a boost somewhere…. GOOD LUCK to you.

aatouralParticipantI have been reading and re-reading the solutions provided by Becker in the WC to make them stick. Mostly the ones that I am not comfortable with (e.i. chapter 6). Hope that helps.

Spartans92ParticipantThanks for the response Mckan. @Hannah, the key words is what they look for I believe. I BS'ed a lot on my writing sections cuz the prompt was so vague I am sure u know what I mean. I think putting in the buzz words is what they look at. No way for the computer to detect what the content says and whether or not it is correct. Good Luck! Cant wait for my skill in a week.

THANKS!
