I'm trying to absolutely smash this exam so that I can feel confident in studying for REG during the three weeks until score release. If I don't leave the testing center feeling like I did well, it's going to be very difficult to concentrate and effectively study. I will say though, that even if by some crazy chance I feel like I aced it, I'm not going to apply for or pay for REG until I get my BEC score. It just seems like tempting fate and bad luck to me…but I'm weird like that.

    Hi all,

I’ve been following this thread daily and finally decided register. I am currently (using Becker) studying for BEC, with my exam scheduled for May 26th. I hope this forum will help me keep motivated and provide some guidance on study strategies, habits, etc.. And of course, I plan to help anywhere I can!

    Here are a couple questions:

-Do you think I have enough time (30 days) to effectively study the remaining 3.5 chapters, or should I re-schedule my exam?

-While going through the text/lectures/practice the first time around, should I take my time through the material? I have been going fairly slow essentially trying to “learn” it all on the first run.

Everybody has different learning techniques. I am really looking for some general advice/tips and I am very curious about what works/worked best for everybody here!

    Best of luck to all!

    Hi Everyone!

I am new to this blog and have purchased Becker self study along with Ninja Notes and plan on purchasing audio along with Ninja MCQ somewhere along the road. I am cracking the Becker book and software open on May 1st. I plan on scheduling my first exam in early July since I think I may be cutting it too close by scheduling for first week of June. I plan to study 25 hours a week or so. 4 hours on week days and about 5 hours on Saturdays. I plan to use Sundays as my day off. Everyone seems to have their own studying pattern and schedule and I'm very interested in any tips or ideas you may want to share. I have no idea what Becker is like since I have yet to log on and use it. I also don't know how to incorporate the ninja extras in my study pattern. Please share any ideas! Also, is two months too long of a study period? I feel like I might forget some of the information 🙁

    Thanks!

    Hi everyone,
I started studying BEC. I am doing my 1st chapter and schedule for exam June 6 – hopefully enough time.
I had this question in Becker homework, can anyone please explain it to me. Thanks.

Fabro, Inc. produced 1,500 units of Product RX-6 last week. The inputs to the production process for Product RX-6 were as follows:
450 pounds of Material A at a cost of $1.50 per pound.
300 pounds of Material Z at a cost of $2.75 per pound.
300 labor hours at a cost of $15.00 per hour.
What is the best productivity measure for the first-line supervisor in Fabro, Inc.'s production plant?

    a.2.00 units per pound.

    b.5.00 units per labor hour.

    c.0.33 units per dollar input.

    d.$15.00 per labor hour.

Capri, is the answer B? The Becker homework gives the explanation. If you can post that, we can help.

    Explanation
Choice “b” is correct. The best productivity measure for the production supervisor is 5.00 units per labor hour. This measures the efficiency and productivity of plant labor, which is within the supervisor's control.

    How you got $5?

The question is asking for what would be the best measure for a first line supervisor overseeing the production and within his control. We know for productivity in that example, they produce 5 units per hour (1500 units/300 direct labor hours). Does that help?

Can anyone help me with this question?

Newman Products has received proposals from several banks to establish a lockbox system to speed up receipts. Newman receives an average of 700 checks per day averaging $1,800 each, and its cost of short-term funds is 7% per year. Assuming that all proposals will produce equivalent processing results and using a 360-day year, which one of the following proposals is optimal for Newman?
    a. A $0.50 fee per check.
    b. A flat fee of $125,000 per year.
    c. A fee of 0.03% of the amount collected.
    d. A compensating balance of $1,750,000.

For choice d, why does it need $1,750,000*7% to calculate the cost? I don`t understand the meaning of $1,750,000*7%! What does the compensating balance mean here?

I need to vent a minute. The state exam guide says average study time for BEC is 80 hours. I feel like I have at least double that and haven't even hit cost accounting. WAY TOO MUCH stuff (read: jackassed formula memorization) on this one! I still have 5 weeks til my exam and this is brutal……

    Ok….venting over……

@Fightit, the compensating balance is the amount that the corporation agrees to maintain in the account in order to establish a lockbox. Because the corporation cannot use the $1,750,000 because they have to maintain that balance, it is multiplied by the 7% which amounts to $122,500 which is the lowest cost alternative out of all 4 choices. I am not good at explaining things but maybe if someone else can chime in and explain it better.

60sixx, don't believe that mumble jumble. Everyone here spends minimum 150 to 200 hours per section. For me, 3-4 hours a day for 5-6 days. So far, for BEC, Started March 1st, finished the Becker book 2 weeks ago, about 160 hours with Becker. With the NINJA MCQ, now I am at 40 hours and over 1800 questions. Yes, no life here but it will all be worth it.

    We are all suffering together.
