AnonymousInactive@anyatver I studied with the complete Wiley product (class, book, testbank, flashcards) and added Ninja McQ this time because it's a retake. The first and third testlet questions were more straightforward and compared to Wiley questions while the middle hard questions were longer, wordier, or required longer calculations much more similar to the Ninja testbank. I had all areas on my test…Hence my feeling of fairness…There was almost one question related to each major area and only two that I don't recall from my study materials. I know some feel that BEC is easy but for me it's a thorn in my side because there is no consistent flow of topical information and I'm not the best at memorization just to do it. I hope to not have to retake but I have plenty of time to skip q2 and sit in q3 if need be so I plan to not stress myself silly. Remember that your testing experience may be totally different than mine because the test itself is supposed to be adaptive while you are testing. Also don't stress if you feel like your questions are not increasing in difficulty as you test because mine did not for FAR and I passed as others have experienced the same for BEC and passed. Best advice I can give you if this is your first test is to take a deep breath before starting and trust your instincts to guide you while testing.

AnonymousInactiveThank you! I have to just tell myself that I have put in the time and effort and yes, I just have to relax and trust what I know. I hope you pass BEC-you are almost done! 🙂

mooseonlooseParticipantWhich of the following is not an example of price discrimination?
A.A department store charges $10 for an item while the same good sells for $7.75 at a discount store.(correct)
B.An airline charges $175 for 14-day advance purchase ticket round trip between New York and Chicago and charges $400 for a ticket on the same route, purchased two days before the flight.
C.A restaurant gives seniors a 15% discount if the order their food before 5:30 p.m.
Incorrect D.A grocery store provides discount coupons to everyone.
how?
January 19, 2017 at 7:22 pm #1444680
KaliKingzParticipant@mooseonloose I'm not sure. What did the explanation say? It seems that it's due to the fact that while you get coupons from a store, you don't have to use them. A is incorrect because the store that sells the good for $10 may just have higher overhead. They aren't charging different prices to people based on some strange rule.

samantha09ParticipantBruell Electronics Co. is developing a new product, surge protectors for high-voltage electrical flows. The following cost information relates to the product. Unit Costs: Direct materials $3.25, Direct labor 4.00, Distribution .75
The company will also be absorbing $120,000 of additional fixed-costs associated with this new product. A corporate fixed charge of $20,000 currently absorbed by other products will be allocated to this new product. How many surge protectors (rounded to the nearest hundred) must Bruell Electronics sell at a selling price of $14 per unit to increase after-tax income by $30,000? Bruell Electronics' effective income tax rate is 40 percent.Does anyone know why the $20,000 corporate fixed charge is not included in the amount of fixed charge? (in other words why you don't add the 20000 to the 120000 when using FC in the equation)

AnonymousInactive@samantha09-I know this one well! $20,000 is already being spent anyway (by other departments) so whether this department picks it up or not is irrelevant to the decision making process.
Rosy0407-if you log out, you can go to CPA 2016 version and all your stuff will be there!

mooseonlooseParticipant@Kalikingz I will post the explanation when I come across this questions again. I don't see how A is the answer.

Jsn3004ParticipantIf the central bank of a country raises interest rates sharply, the country's currency will most likely:
A.
increase in relative value.B.
remain unchanged in value.C.
decrease in relative value.D.
decrease sharply in value at first and then return to its initial value. The Correct Answer is A.
I thought the answer was C… I figured if interest rates go up, people would be less likely to take out money since they would have to pay more interest and the value of the currency will drop. But the answer says…
If the central bank of a country raises interest rates sharply, the country's currency will most likely increase in relative value. This is because as interest rates increase, the currency offers a higher return through the interests. The currency will become more desirable as an investment because the return is relatively higher. The currency “costs” more, so its value increases. (The demand for currency correspondingly decreases.)
I guess i'm just confused on what the question was asking. Maybe i'm just looking too deep into the question. If anyone could possibly clear this up for me i'd appreciate it. Thanks.
