How do you get motivated for BEC. This stuff is so dry. I've done the first 2 units on Becker and honestly I think its way harder than FAR or AUD. I'm just not picking it up and when I watch the lecture videos I start to fall asleep, even after like 4 cups of coffee.

    FAR:87
    AUD:74,91
    BEC:77
    REG:86

HighRisk – Just push through it. I have to take it a third time, it is torture. I am going to spend 2 days on each subject and then hammer out MCQ for the rest of the time. I got a 74 today, so bummed. Just get through the material once and when you go back it will begin to click.

Mom2five, hang in there. Im checking in after failing Reg. I am on ch.7 Gleim and plan to sit for BEC in April, retake Reg in May. Dont understand the logic behind this, but I had a tough time getting through Reg, last window, but should be good for an intense review this go round. I guess I just need to switch things up and i got motivated once i saw that the BEC book is half the size of Reg. Good luck everyone!

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

BEC 1st attempt received a 70 and 2nd attempt was a 67 ( I was sick and blame it for the fall in score). Any way on both exams I received weaker in the WC portion. I am not a great writer but I thought I did well on it the last exam. Any advice on how to do a better job on the WC? I have heard different opinions on the cut and paste method, but more people have told me not to cut and paste from the questions. Any opinions on this?

Thanks MaLoTo. Sorry to hear about that score, its so close and I know you will get it on the next one.

Not to pry but did using the writing format get you comparable or stronger on the breakdown? I seem to do well on the practice sims in CPA excel. I haven't used the Ninja sims yet. Thanks in advance.

I got stronger on WC both times and some of the others on here will vouch for the method. At least one other person said they followed my example, they passed and got stronger on the WC. My issue was I sucked at the MCQ.

I copied and pasted it into a word doc and will have an image of it embedded in my brain by the time I take my exam. I am no writer that is for sure ( I am hoping for comparable) . I really appreciate your help MaloTu.

Can anyone tell me whether Wiley's content on Information Technology is way too much? I just felt it's way too weary to read them through. Is it necessary to read it at all? We all live with this digital world by now…. Any response would be appreciated!

Actually lonestar I found it useful. I already had read the IT chapter from the Ninja Book but since I had never studied IT before BEC I went to the Wiley book two days before the exam just to make sure I had went over every possible thing. The Ninja book explained really well the IT terms and the Wiley book served to solidify what I had learn on the Ninja book. Since IT is more about the terms I would recommend going over the chapter again two or three days before the exam. Use the mcqs to gauge your knowledge of the terms.

    PS
I found the IT questions from Ninja and the Wiley book to be more difficult than the real exam.

Also at first I found all the IT material to be too much but it was after reading it several times that it started to make sense.

It is estimated that a particular manufacturing job is subject to an 80 percent learning curve. The first unit required fifty labor hours to complete. What is the cumulative average time per unit after completing four units?

    a. 40.0 hours.

    b. 30.0 hours.

    c. 32.0 hours.

    d. 50.0 hours.

    Explanation

Rule: The basic premise of the learning curve is that operating efficiency and/or production increases in repetitive tasks as experience is gained. The rate of improvement, measured by the learning curve, has a regular pattern that can be stated as follows:
As cumulative quantities double, average cost per unit decreases by a specified percent of the previous cost.
Choice “c” is correct. 32.0 hours cumulative average time per unit after completing four units.

Cumulative # of Units……Average Time per Unit
    1……………………………………50 Hrs
    2…………………………………….40 Hrs (50 x 0.8)
    4…………………………………….32 Hrs (40 x 0.8)

Choices “d”, “a”, and “b” are incorrect, based on the above calculation.

I AM LOST WITH THE “COMPLETING FOUR UNITS”. PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THE CUMULATIVE # OF UNITS COLUMN. WHY WAS ROW# 3 SKIPPED? WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?

    Thanks for your help guys!

I think I found out now why it jumped to 4.
    1
    1+1=2
    2+2=4

    Is that right?

Amor, you double the output each time you reach the 80% learning curve reduction. Note the output doubles from 1 to 2, then 2 to 4. it is in the wording of the rule. take it a little slower, it is BEC.

    FAR 7/25/15 76!
    AUD 10/30/15 93
    BEC 2/27/16 82
    REG 5/23/16 88!
Ninja Book and MCQ and the forum - all the way!!!
and a little thing i like to call, time and effort!
if you want things to change, you have to do something different
