VeggieParticipantI know I haven't been active here, but I've been lurking quite a bit in my study prep. I passed BEC with an 85, my first of the CPA exams. I wanted to take this one first with because I was familiar with the concepts since I already have the CMA credential.
Congratulations to everyone that passed, thank you for all the (indirect) help, and good luck to everyone who was not successful!
Now I'm just not sure what part to take next. Either AUD or REG.
BEC (2/27) 85
CMA Part 1 (10/14) 440
CMA Part 2 (5/15) 420March 9, 2016 at 11:48 pm #750006
MoeshowParticipantI felt the best study method for me was to take notes in my own words, watch the lectures and understand the concepts. As monikernc said, understanding the concepts and “why you do this and that” goes a long way. I would do the multiple choice and fully understand why the answer was what it was. I used the multiple choice as a way to review. Pretty much, every multiple choice question that I did not understand I would review that topic in the book and even do addition research online or thru my textbook to try and understand it fully. I believe using the MCQs was the best tool.
Anyone know of a code I can use to get Ninja MCQ cheaper?

MoeshowParticipant@monikernc I have Roger CPA so I just wanted to supplement my studies with other material. I just used Roger for BEC, but I feel FAR will be a different beast. You only used Ninja for BEC? Will ninja MCQs will have different explanations than other review MCQs, correct? Or are they all the same?

MaLoTuParticipantI can tell you that I used Becker. I am fairly certain if it comes down to the WC that I will pass. I feel that my experience was much like what many others who have passed reported. It just feels like almost 30 people in this small community not having their score is statistically significant or what would be considered a material amount. I mean, that has to be close to 25-35% of the people on here who took the exam this score release. If that correlates to the general population (in the same proportion) something else has to be going on, right?

AnonymousInactiveMaLoTu I am seeing an unusual amount of people on the “bubble” I do not know if its just coincidence that a significant amount of members of this forum got caught on it but it is sure an unusual amount of people. I really hope that you passed!
Moeshow Ninja MCQs come with different explanations and I always felt that they were good explanations. Also they come with additional links within the explanations that allows you to get more in-depth information regarding the material from the question. For all my exams I used the Ninja products (I could not afford anything more) and wiley books only as a reference (they cost 50ish and come with more mcqs and the AICPA released questions) For FAR I would highly recommend the Ninja MCQs (I think they come with 1,800ish questions) and for 47$ I think is a steal since I would consider them to be the most important aspect of my learning experience in these exams.

monikerncParticipantI don't know what to make of it really. When people posted their jurisdictions there does seem to be a problem in a few. I noticed new software on this exam and wonder if this had an effect.

MoeshowParticipant@cortes123 So the Wiley books cost 50 something bucks and those came with multiple choice questions as well?
Yeah, I was deciding between Wiley MCQs and Ninja MCQs but Wiley is about 150, but it is for a year, compared to Ninja's 3 months access. I was only leaning towards Wiley because I felt their explanation could be better. Only thing I'm scared of, with so many multiple choice, is getting older material that might not be tested anymore and information overload. I hear a ton of people saying half of what was in the MCQs were not tested and so on.

AnonymousInactiveYes the Wiley books come with mcqs at the end of each chapter. I felt that the Wiley FAR book was too big so I used it only for additional mcqs and some other perspective that I wanted to get for some topics. I suggest that if you are going to buy it then go for the pdf version. It is so much easy to find mcqs or topics for reference searching on a PDF.
I felt thay the Ninja mcq were a good representation of the exam. I felt that they were more difficult than the actual.exam. Try to practice the journal entries and try to understand the concepts behind the questions. FAR has calculations but a lot of them are conceptual so if you get the why's things are done a certain way then you would be able to answer the curve balls that the exam is gonna throw at you.
Also I would not worry that material from the mcqs is irrelevant, the Ninja mcqs are laid out according to the current AICPA CSOs and when there is an update (as the one for extraordinary items) Jeff takes out what was changed. So you are going to be answering mcqs from the current content of the exam per the AICPA.

cpagalParticipantIf I had to do it all over again I would do the Gleim book with MCQ and NINJA MCQ for all sections. That's it. Any explanations I needed I found good ones on youtube. The Gleim books are very comprehensive and I loved their MCQ. NINJA MCQ are very good as well but Gleim setup is 100% like the real exam so you get the experience.
One thing I don't like about ninja is that you can't skip questons and come back. You have to answer in order. On the real exam you can skip and come back.

AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
REG - 01/19/16 - 82
