    Just a repost from the BEC experience thread:

    I got done a couple hours ago. I have no idea what to think!

    First testlet took 30 minutes. I guessed on about 4. I am not sure if the second testlet was harder, but I did guess a bit more and the topics were more obscure than the first. It took me 40 minutes to get through testlet 2. The third was noticeably harder (for me). It took me 45 minutes to get through it.

    I must say in general that the test was even-keeled as far as getting a good mix of all the topics. I was well prepared and the stuff I wasn't prepared for I wasn't exposed to in the study material, like literally left-field stuff.

    So thankful that I don't have to wait too long to get the results. I hope I did well enough to pass.

    In a lean accounting environment, a company accepts a special order to make 200 units of a product each month for the next two months for $130 per unit. The company normally sells the unit for $170 per unit with variable costs per unit at $80. The company plans to use excess capacity. By what amount would this special order increase profit?

    A. $16,000
    B. $20,000
    C. $36,000
    D. $52,000

    How did they get B? For excess capacity we use $130 for revenue instead of $170?

    Here is wiley explanation:

    You are right we use $130 and bc there is excess capacity we do not take into account Fixed Cost(although there were not given here)

    130
    -80
    =50 for one month
    * 2 months
    = 20,000 total increase in profits.

    EDIT I skipped the 50 * 200 units calculation.
    50 * 200= 10,000 * 2 months = 20,000

    @Cortes: Thanks!

    BTW here is my updated variance “cheat sheet”, incorporating fixed and variable OH. Do these look right to you? I will try to use it to solve the problem you posted above.

    P = D* AQ
    U = D* SP
    R = D* AH
    E = D* SR

    1) A
    2) B foh + (A hrs * voh rate)
    3) B foh + (S hrs * voh rate)
    4) A

    B= 1 vs 3

    S= 1 vs 2
    E= 2 vs 3
    V= 3 vs 4

    Hi. I had an off topic question. I am taking my exam at 8 am on 2/29, will I still get my results on March 9th or will it be released later?
    Thank you

    utaustin- it should still be March 9th … if February just popped up unexpectedly (which it didn't), it would have a later date. If any March dates open up they will release those scores after March 9.

    I test then too. Should be the 9th unless something freakish happens, like the building loses power exactly as they try to submit your test.

    FAR - 08/30/15 - 90
    AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
    REG - 01/19/16 - 82
    BEC - 02/29/16 - 83

    Passed all on 1st attempt using GLEIM (full program) and NINJA (MCQ only)!!!

    I was looking through my photos on my iphone and came across a couple pics from my live Becker course. It was formulas that my teacher wrote for us. I do not know how to use them exactly, but they are for Variance OH and those other tricky ones.

    Fixed overhead = FOH
    Variable overhead = VOH

    VOH spending variance = AH*(SR*AR)
    VOH efficiency = SR*(SHA-AH)
    FOH spending variance = Budgeted FOH – AFOH
    FOH Volume variance = Std FOH – budgeted FOH

    I havent applied them to anything and I cannot remember what exactly all the letters are, but I am fairly confident that SR is standard rate, H is hours, and HA is hours allowed.
