@lke137a – I'm in a similar boat. My test date is also January 16th. I'm going to pretend that I never studied the material before and go through each section, and review all of the material by end of December. Then I'll follow the NINJA method of re-writing down all of my notes, and taking a lot of MCQ's. Maybe that will help boost your score.

    Good luck!

GHardesty, how did you go from 74 to 66? I'm asking you cause I just got a 74 myself.

    Martin,
I earned a score of 74 after 8 days of serious studying. I studied only 8 days, because I received my NTS middle of February 2014 and I was able to find a prometric center that had an availability at the end of February. After I earned a 74, I wasn't upset because I thought “hey not bad for only 8 days of studying.” When I took it the second time, I was working a ton of hours and I hardly studied and thought that maybe I could pull off a 75.

I wouldn't worry about earning a lower score if you are diligent and maintain a disciplined approach. My score decreased because of poor study habits my second time around.

    Good luck Martin!

    ILCPA2014,
I think you have a good chance of passing BEC with only 3 1/2 weeks of study time. I say this because there are so many holidays that you can utilize as study time. It's not an easy test, but the amount of material is manageable. Hopefully the weekend of January 1-3 you have already covered all of the material and can simply focus on MCQ's.

    Good luck,

    GHardesty

this exam material is all over the place and some of the calculations are really something. unlike audit getting settled into a study session is much harder.
i am focusing now on doing a first pass on all ninja mcq's going section by section. i read everything that comes up with the response, capture calculations as i go, and am making a list of the mcq question numbers that have calculations so i can be sure to hit them again and again and again and again.
i have scheduled for jan 18, and want to stick with that date but if my intensity level doesn't pick up here soon i may reschedule for february before all the dates are gone. i want two weeks for review before taking exam.
anyone gotten past this initial hurdle to studying caused by the range of topics covered?
i would also like to hear from folks who are doing a retake about why they think/know they didn't pass.
    thanks.

moniker, BEC is 3 Hours (72 questions and three written communications tasks). NINJA MCQ worked great for me, you will do fine.

GHardesty, getting a 74 after only 8 days of studying is very impressive, you should be able to kill this exam next time around. I asked about your drop in points because I thought you had a more challenging exam on your second try. I just got my score report, and I can't believe it shows stronger on MC. This is very ironic considering the fact that this exam is 85% mc. They pretty much gave me a 74 because I was not able to finish one of the simulations.

ILCPA2014, I hope you don't underestimate this exam. If you are a recent graduate then 3 weeks might be enough, but if you are not, I suggest you give yourself a little more time. These people do not test you based on definitions, they go into a little more detail.

    Hey guys,

I got a 71 on BEC in Q4. Retaking early Jan, just in time for busy season!
I bombed Cost and Economics, so I'm going to really try and drive those sections home. I didn't utilize Wiley's or Jeff's flashcards, so I will make sure to overuse them and listen to Jeff's angelic voice on the Ninja audio.

@monikernc: I budgeted 45 mins and was pressed for time. I don't think that I wrote too much, but I definitely had under a minute to spare.

moniker, no more than 15% of 3 hour time. Keep it short, to the point. It is computer graded. Your time is better spent working on the MCQs.
