    @monikernc: Thanks for the explanation!

@MaLoTu: You really just have to work the problems over and over until it clicks. You need to move on so that you can cover everything before your exam, but also keep a running list of your trouble areas that you will hit again for final review.

I am finally feeling ok about b1 and starting b2 today. Breakeven Analysis, Balanced Scorecards, and Responsibility Segments are my goals for today.

Yeah, it's surprising that people say this is the easiest test by far. It's seems pretty difficult to me seeing as a large chunk of it is straight formula memorization. Also, it's essentially composed of the top layer of every business concept in existence. In the other sections the topics build off of each other and generally come together in one big picture. This one is a cluster****.

@1dayatatime- This is a retake for me and believe it or not, the exam itself is not as bad as the material. I got a 67 without knowing anything about financial (almost nothing).
However, the study material makes you want to gouge your eyes out! The questions are so involved and take so much time. I have Becker and I do notice that the extremely extensive problems that require a lot of calculation are not from previous exams.
I am just trying to get through the material and at the same time I am trying to remember that the test is totally doable and unlike these practice questions for the most part.
It is a cluster**** of information, though!

@MaLoTu That's a relief. Some of these math questions on Becker take 3-5 minutes a piece. Aside from doing the actual math, it takes awhile to wrap my head around the wall of text and numbers, half of which are irrelevant and just there to confuse you and make you waste time. I'm hoping I don't see more than a few of those monsters when I take the actual exam.

I'M getting through B-2 today (Variance Analysis, Responsibility Reporting). I will double review by going over the specific NINJA material that corresponds to this, lets get the study on.

If sales dollars are used to measure activity levels, total costs and total revenues may be read from the X and Y axis as follows:

    Total costs, Total revenues
    a. X or Y, X or Y
    b. X or Y, X only
    c. Y only, X or Y
    d. Y only, X only

Answer is C. Why would the Y axis be showing revenues?

Slowly coming to that realization that BEC is one of those subjects in which no matter how hard you try, getting an 80% on your first try of HW is unlikely. ugghh

What do you guys think is the answer?

20 million net income before tax, tax rate 40%, short term debt 4 million, long term liability 12 million, total asset 20 million, cost of capital 8%, what's Economic value added?

    Just wondering,
Does the exam calculator have a square root function?

    FAR 90 - 11/16/2015
    BEC 81 - 2/14/2016
    REG 87 - 5/23/2016

No it does not. You literally have to do 1.02 X 1.02 X 1.02 to do 1.02 cubed. However, this is the most arduous exponential you would have to do during the exam.

    Sorry… I don't get it !!!
How can I calculate EOQ? Can I do that using the exam calculator?

    Martin -is the answer to your question, EVA = 20*(1-.4) – (20*.08) = 12 – 1.6 = $10.4 million

Blue.auditor -try the aicpa practice exam for bec to see if there is a sq root function

MaLoTu – look through the past few days' posts on this thread. There have been some process costing problems worked through that may help you.

Hi all! Focusing on some problems areas today (variance analysis and cost management)…a great video for variance analysis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oAM1A8nCHY.

I am using Becker and the methodology in the video above makes much more sense!

There are also some great videos on flexible budget variances. I am finding Becker is just not clicking for me this time around. It is like REG part II.

haha that Miles Guy is great!

Here are some videos I found helpful. They are super short and to the point. My theory: less time watching videos and more time working MCQs= PASS.

Today for me is CVP Breakeven Analysis, Responsibility Segments, and Cost Assignment (Absorption vs. Variable).
